My fiancé took me here for a date night and I was so impressed with the drinks, service, and ambiance! 10/10 experience and will definitely return. Try the poke tacos and this drink (I forgot the name)
Great ambience. Technically extremely well prepared food. Delicious flavor. Great wine selection and service. Love the trees inside the restaurant and the lighting. Really nice atmosphere. Ordered the filet medium. Nice outer crust and tender medium cooked on the inside. The peppercorn sauce was savory but not overpowering. The dessert was pretty amazing. The sorbet was refreshing and the strawberry tart fresh not too sweet. Great restaurant for a special occasion.
This place is awesome! Decor, food, vibe, and service are top notch. We had the seafood tower, lobster roll, and some drinks. The seafood is super fresh! The flavors were amazing. Highly recommend
The atmosphere was so Fantastic, the food was so delicious. We ordered 10 dishes most of them are seafood. The seafood tower was great, never forget to order oysters. The waiter was very patient, helpful, and friendly. Can't complain about anything.
This was just perfect. Best gin and tonic ever. Great, attentive and speedy service. I wish we lived here. Not just in La Jolla, but in the restaurant!
The service here was beyond incompetent. We ordered their seafood tower to share to start (which was excellent) but they brought the mains out whilst we were still eating it. The waiter had the audacity to suggest that it was my fault they had done so. Then made matters worse by telling me not to worry, as they had palmed two of the incorrectly delivered dishes off on another table(poor them) and had “only kept one dish under a heat lamp”. Incredible, considering it was over $250 for 3 of us. Besides the service, the food was good and the setting is lovely.
Great Place to spend a happy hour, especially if you like oysters. Good mixed drinks and decent beer too. I really like their appatizer menu better than their dinner menu though. Beautiful place to spend the evening in San Diego.
Loved the 100+ olive trees, the vibe and atmosphere at Herringbone is perfect for dates nights, family nights or just having a fun evening with friends. Great bar and cocktail menu. Though the wine list can be more extensive, found it limiting. Oysters and lobster rolls were fantastic, a couple vegetarian optiond on the menu would help!
I rarely do we views, but I must say this restaurant definitely deserves it. I came for my birthday June 17th (1st time here) it was a great! decision. Everything was perfect the atmosphere, service, food and decor was beautiful ?. Our waiter David was very accommodating with whatever we requested, he checked to make sure everything was to our liking. A manager (sweet women) also came to our table to see how everything was going and to make sure the food was good :).We arrived at 8:15pm (closing time 9:30pm) David didnt make us feel like we needed to hurry with our ordering.... He was very patient and extremely helpful with questions about the menu. David will definitely be one of the reasons for us coming back :). I left there with a smile, it was beautiful evening.
We tried Herringbone after a great time at their sister restaurant Seersucker in the Gas Lamp, 15 or so years ago and were thought it was great and have been back a few times when in town. After a few years off (for COVID) we went back, and it was great. food was tasty and service was excellent.

We saw that they had a nice happy hour menu online so we made a reservation for 5pm. After we were seated, we asked about the happy hour menu and were told that it wasn’t allowed for our section and the happy hour section was full but there was no indication online that it was only for a certain section. The pizza was also very floppy.
Apparently one of the better spots for a good Happy Hour for the locals ad tourists. Place was packed. I was there on a Wednesday and one one of the specialties was $1 Oysters on the Half Shell; also a couple of Gin Martinis. Very good service.
This is the best seafood I’ve had in San Diego so far. The ambience here is incredible. The building itself is an old auto body shop turned into a Tuscan seaport diner. The trees inside are real preserved olive trees. The service was excellent and the food was well worth the price. Make sure you swing by the bar and talk to Joe for great conversation and menu recommendations! For dinner we ordered the seafood tower, which was such a great sampler of all their cold seafood. For dinner I had their fish and chips, which was the best fish and chips I’ve ever had anywhere. They use a homemade batter from a local brewery (pizza port) to fry their snapper to a perfectly crunchy yet soft and flavorful breading. I also tried some of their scallops, which were amazing, and their filet, which was incredibly tender and perfectly cooked. The brandy peppercorn sauce on top was a great touch. For dessert we tried their coconut brûlée and their lemon blueberry tarte.
From the outside, the restaurant is unassuming but, once inside, the decor draws you in. Considerable thought has gone into the decor and I could have spent a very long time looking at it more closely. It has an industrial brick and metal appearance softened by plenty of unusual touches like full-size olive trees - check out Instragram! The menu has a wide choice that I expect would keep anyone happy - from pizza, to burgers, steaks, octopus, fish… The wine was probably more expensive than we would normally like but after careful choosing we had a more than acceptable bottle without breaking the bank. Our meal was delicious, in an uplifting, interesting location with friendly staff and we were seriously considering staying in La Jolla longer to try out everything on the menu. If only we could have stayed longer to try out the brunch menu. We will be back!
I had the chicken, and it was delicious. My wife had the shrimp risotto, which was also very good. We thought both portions were a little small though. The crème brûlée was just okay.
