The fish is reasonable quality but so drenched in sauces you can barely taste it. No variety in those sauces either - just overly salty shoyu + ponzu.

Also 30% of the omakase items include bluefin tuna, so DO NOT go here if you value sustainability.

There are much better omakase restaurants in the San Diego area.

Private seating, good tempo of food. Each chef only focuses on about four people. They staff is very attentive. I would strongly recommend this establishment for sushi and food enthusiasts. I can see why they had a Michelin mention. The intention and care behind the preparations were exhibited in the execution of our delicious Omakase dinner. I would fly back down just to eat here again. Our chef was knowledgeable and carefully crafted our pieces. Each piece was perfectly balanced with distinct flavors between the bites.

Unfortunately, any other sushi is now ruined for me due to this amazing experience. Service, food, vibes: 10/10

I will never go again. 90 minutes course was reduced to only 40 minutes. I was far away from being full. Additional order is much more expensive. No innovation of Sushi. I cannot believe it has a Michelin recommendation.

Not strictly traditional but an opinionated take on sushi. Some felt over seasoned, making it hard to discern the quality of fish. Overall service was friendly and decor adequate but not the level I would expect from this price point. Overall, it was a decent meal but not up to the expectation set by the price.

Sadly overrated and overpriced. Harmony Sushi 2B1 is down the street, 5th of the price, better quality, the sushi chefs make it fun to be there, and you leave full. Disappointed with our sushi chef. He wasn’t that friendly or knowledgeable. Didn’t do anything special for a birthday in our party. Most of the party was still hungry and it was over $1000 for 4 people. Idk how everyone gives this place 5 stars.

Great choice for good omakase style nigiri in San Diego.

It is a bit out of the way, in the backend Asian part of San Diego, near the auto dealers, but I'm very much glad this store exists.

We were rather late our appointment, but our chef caught us up quickly and skillfully. The fish is sourced from Mexico and local waters, so this cannot be described as traditional edomae, but it is clear that the team here is doing their best to offer good food at a reasonable price with great service.

For those who want to celebrate the new and their endeavors, please visit Hidden Fish.

Hidden Fish is stellar. Whether you’re dining alone or out on a date, the chefs and staff make you feel totally welcome. The food is a highlight reel and the low-key but impressive vibe makes this a great spot for omakase sushi.

Visited yesterday for the omakase. The host and service team were professional and welcoming throughout. The experience at the counter was less positive. The interaction with the sushi chef felt awkward, and the pacing and engagement seemed to favor certain tables. We received fewer check ins and slower pacing than nearby tables. I cannot speak to intent, but the pattern left us feeling unwelcome.

On the food, the seasoning was heavy. Several pieces were distinctly salty or dressed in a way that muted the fish. In an omakase setting I expect balance and restraint so that the fish leads. We dine regularly at other omakase in San Diego, including Sushi Gaga, and receive consistent attention at those places. While Hidden Fish is at a lower price point, the execution and overall experience did not feel commensurate with the cost.

This was incredible. The service was perfect, the vibe was casual with the focus being the food. We had the 18 course and every bite was worth every penny.

The entire front of the house and chefs were super lively and fun, we had Chef Steven and it was super enjoyable to talk and share drinks with him as he prepared us some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. Some of the highlights were the Black Cod, Sea Bream, and Yellowtail.
