Overcrowded. Not enough tables and or staff. Food was small portions. I ordered the garlic shrimp scampi... no sign of garlic.... I did not want spicy and still came out spicy... my other half ordered the kalbi ribs.. chewy like beef Jerky, overcooked and not alot of meat.. We found a hair in our mac salad !!!! NOOO. we will just go to our normal spot island style cafe in santee next time...

This is one of favorite Hawaiian food in town. I decided to get their special and basically have all the meat ingredients I love such as Portuguese sausages, hula pork, beef patty and meat sauce with sunny side up egg.

Very yummy spot if you like trying some authentic Hawaiian food. Give this place a try

A lovely little Hawaiian spot! They have a large variety of meats (the big three), and the quality is incredible. The only complaint I have was the wait time for the food resulting in a 3 for service, but after eating it was well worth the wait. Parking was also annoying, plan to walk over from the plaza over.

I got the teri salmon, and my friends got the two combo plate and katsu (fried) chicken; we also got some lumpia to share.

They also have some specialty plates with multiple flavors on the side of the store. We also tried a hand-shaken lemonade and a dirty soda, they have so many flavors it may be hard to decide on! The drinks may seem expensive but they give you a large cup full of it.

Definitely plan to come again and try another dish sometime!

I know how to make MocoLocos at home so I wasnt very surprised Homestyle Hawaiian had me and my fiancé killing their version. I loved everything about it and one order can feed the both of us but we’re very slim with a high metabolism so we can eat a lot just not in one sitting lol so we’ll be back.

I’ve been a coming here off and on for the past two years, but after my recent experience, I’ll never come back. I accidentally placed an order for the wrong meat (Kalbi instead of Kalua pork) and tried calling immediately to fix the mistake, but the line was constantly busy. When I came, the cashier was a college aged kid wearing his fraternity letters and uggs. He said it was too late to change the order because it was already being cooked. There was no effort to check with the kitchen or find a solution, even after offering to pay for the correct meat. After my girlfriend stepped in, he finally made some effort, but by then, it was too late. I understand it was my mistake, but the lack of flexibility and poor customer service was disappointing. For a place I've enjoyed for a while, this was a huge letdown…

Some of the best garlic shrimp I’ve ever had out side of Hawaii. Everything was very flavorful, terri chicken, and beef were so delicious as well. Staff was friendly and great customer service.

Aimee with the “catering department” assured me she would issue a refund for food that I never received. Unfortunately that never happened. On top of that I believe I’ve been ghosted by her at this point. Very disappointed that people cannot be honest and stick to their words.

Great place for fried chicken. We got veggie lumpia and lava chicken with rice and mac n cheese. We would have preferred the salad as a side. My kids liked it, but I was hoping for something vegan and not too fatty on the menu. The menu items are not for me, but the food looked good, and the rest of the family ate it all with gusto.

Inflation seems to have hit them hard. Prices have increased while portions decreased. There was barely any sauce on my deep fried musubi. It was so dry. Also no free water?

I ate at this place last week Friday (Jan.17, 2025). The only thing I ate for the day. Later that night Food Poisoning!
I ate Teriyaki Plate. Was the chicken fully cooked?
It is Monday (Jan. 20, 2025) and I am still feeling some effects.
Please be careful at this place!

1st of all. No condiments availalabe.

2nd. Poor quality meats. Ordered Kalbi short ribs and hat a lot of nerve.
3rd. No good selection of soft drinks.
Ono Hawaiian is 100% way better than this place.

When food portion is half full like this, I would recommend using a smaller bowl and make it full 🥣, because half full like this indicates this soup has been sipped by somebody😅
