Tucked away in a unassuming suburbian food outlet is this hidden gem of a restaurant. Everything was great but the crispy duck was outstanding.

TOO GOOD ! It's been way too long since we have eaten here...close to 21 months. Even though there are heaps of Asian eateries around Irvine where we moved to in Nov, 2022 no one serves authentic Chinese food like this place. Forget about the cheesy ambience inside an old movie theater that is mostly an Asian supermarket...it's all about the incredible food. WEEKEND GETAWAY ! My wife and I hit the road at 10.30am on Friday to kick off our fun packed weekend down in San Diego. We hit heavy traffic as expected but better earlier than later. FIRST STOP ! We arrived here for lunch around 12.30pm. While my wife parked our car I headed inside to the restaurant....to my surprise Joe the long time manager recognized me straight off and showed me to a vacant table in the corner. TOO EASY ! When Joe popped over to say hi I gave him our lunch order. We knew exactly what we wanted...1 x Kung Pao Shrimp and 1 x Honey Walnut Shrimp. Joe came back with a pot of Jasmine tea and 2 tall iced waters. IT WAS PACKED ! Before too long Joe brought out my wife's huge serve of Honey Walnut Shrimp. Within 2 or 3 minutes my delectable looking Kung Pao Shrimp hit the table. MOUTHSATIONAL ! Trust me no one serves authentic Chinese food as good as here. My Kung Pao Shrimp tasted amazing...no tails on the shrimp and it was kicked up just enough. My wife was in gourmet food heaven enjoying her Honey Walnut Shrimp but I did have to pinch a few of her juicy shrimp with walnuts. THE BEST ANYWHERE !

FASTER THAN FAST FOOD ! And tastes waaaaaaay better ! My wife and I enjoyed a totally delicious lunch here almost 2 weeks ago..on a Saturday. Of course we noticed on the menu they have weekday LUNCH SPECIALS as well. Definitely worth a return visit. AND WE DID ! On Friday we headed over here for lunch and arrived before 1pm. We figured the place would be packed out but surprisingly it was on the quiet side when we walked in. I WAS AMAZED ! We picked our own table and then recognized Joe our server from our previous visit. Joe was happy to see us and brought us menus straight away. Even though we loved what we ordered last visit..and even though the LUNCH SPECIALS were very tempting we decided to go with DIM SUM. We pretty much knew what we wanted to try but asked Joe for his opinion. He basically confirmed our choices.....1 x HOM SUI GOK, 1 x BAKED BBQ PORK BUN, 1 x SHRIMP DUMPLING and I x PORK & SHRIMP SHUI MAI. After taking our lunch order Joe returned with a complimentary pot of Jasmine Tea and small porcelain cups. HOW NICE ! Now I am not kidding you but everything hit our table with 2 minutes of placing our order. Everything looked great, tasted fresh made and with top quality ingredients. We demolished everything..it was that good. All this for under $24. TOO GOOD TO MISS !

Ordered a bunch of dim sum and food and overall nothing stood out. It was quite disappointing and underwhelming. Wouldn’t go again.

Everything was good and up to par as per usual. However, the " pork chop with onion" can be heavy on the maple/caramelized sugar after tone if you are not expecting it. I would recommend the "pork chop with salt and pepper instead. The deep fried whole fish in sweet and sour sauce is the best in SoCal .

Food was good. Lots of onions which I dont mind but others might. Definitely good for a quick takeout night of chinese food. Plenty of food in the order for leftovers for another night of dinner or lunch. The Eggdrop soup either needed salt or less veggies which caused it to be bit bland. Sesame Balls were good and large. We also had Mongolian Beef and garlic chicken

2/25/2024Hong Kong BBQ Kitchen has authentic Cantonese food. Big portions with good price.Friendly and fast services. The ladies always have a smile on their faces.Delicious food:salt and pepper chicken wings - loved it! Crispy outside, juicy and tender inside, not dried.Orange peeled chicken: not over fried like many restaurants. It has hinted taste of orange.Spring rolls as appetizer: has 8 pieces in an order. Crispy and the temperature is just right when brought out! Tasty.Salted fish and chicken fried rice: an authentic Cantonese fried rice dish. Good portion of salted fish in the fried rice. It satisfied wify's craving. Will definitely return for more.=================4 years ago:Came here to buy some roasted pork for the Lunar NewYear. We ended upp with 2+ pounds of roast pork, 1/2 of a chicken, and 2 orders of fa gao (a light sponge cake).Service: good. Server was nice to tell me about the choicess of chicken. Knowing that I was buying food to celebrate the lunar new year, she told me about a celebration in the nearby public library. Was smiling all the time when we carried a conversation.Food: surprisingly good quality!!! The skin of the roasted pork was crispy. The meat was seasoned with the right amount of salt and spices. Each piece was cut perfectly and assembled nicely in the box, see picture. I sometimes get my roasted pork from a store in Clairemont Mesa. This place has better service and quality! The sponge cake has good texture and not so sweet.Like this place and will visit again for bbq takeouts.

I love this place. The food is really good and the service is fast. I try to stop here whenever we are going to Padres games or coming back from San Diego. I like to order their chicken feet and a duck.

I’m sorry to say but this was one of the worst dim sum experiences I’ve had in my life and trust me when I say I’ve eaten plenty of dim sum across the world. First off, the food came out cold which is a big no no for dim sum. The taste was bland and you could tell there wasn’t a lick of passion put into the food. The atmosphere of the place was also lifeless and felt like an abandoned building with unused furniture everywhere. We really should have turned around when we saw no customers inside.

This is generally a good place for dim sum. But my personal opinion is the porridge and xiao long bun is not that good. Others are

We ordered a lot of food. The most delicious dish was roasted pei pu duck. Yummy ?. Other dishes like fried noodles were pretty big and well cooked. People are nice. The atmosphere was fair. Price was moderate. Sour and spicy soup was not tasty. The chef added water to make it good enough for 12 persons.
