I've gone here a few times when we wanted a simple meal. worth going to and not very pricey. Best in San Diego, no, but if you are in the area the service is great and they did a good job on the scenery. Food has good portions. I recommend enchiladas and the soups.

I normally rate:
1 star dont go
2 star average and would only go if really need or por service or very overpriced.
3 star above average. good rating for me. id go again.
4 star is great. lots of perks and bonuses
5 star is absolutely recommend and must go.

We weren’t really sure where to go in the neighborhood for a quick drink and snack. We were very fortunate to have decided on Huapangos. We were greeted by Arian who was on the patio and made us feel right at home. He brought us the best chips, salsa, and queso per his recommendation. This is our new Hillcrest favorite and we can’t wait to come back. Arian also mentioned December Nights to us; a nearby event that we just added to our itinerary. Thank you Huapangos!

I was craving soup and decided to stop in at this place since they have a cute patio right on the corner.

Chips and salsa were delicious along with my tortilla soup. My server was very friendly and helpful in food suggestions.

I will definitely be back!

My girlfriend and I dined here 2 nights ago and it was an amazing experience. The owners son turned the lights down low and put some authentic music on. With the decor and the service, I felt like I was in a classy restaurant in Mexico. The service was top notch and the food was amazing. The mole was the best I’d had in San Diego. Had an amazing conversation with the owners son when we paid the bill and we had a lot to relate too. I highly recommend a visit and we will no doubt be back!

Highly underrated spot! I've been coming here for years! The owners are so nice and welcoming, and the staff is always attentive! Food is great, if you like authentic Mexican (not taco shop or Mexican fussion), and bottomless with brunch is the winner!

Food was not good. Service was terribly slow. There was no wait so we were sat immediately. But our food took about 45 minutes to arrive. No refills. We were a party of 4 plus a child and there was an automatic gratuity in the bill. The host that sat us was very nice. We have no idea who our server was.

The food is delicious served in large portions that are worth the price. The fajitas are terrific as were the spinach quesadillas. The margaritas are better than most local restaurants with a perfect blend and not overly sweet. The atmosphere is perfect with ambient lighting. Oscar our server was friendly and accommodating.

They charged me twice for the tip. I called the restaurant to fix it but they said the manager would call me back. No one ever called me back.

TERRIBLE experience. The wait was 40 PLUS minutes just for our food. During that time we were not ONCE updated on our food nor were our drinks refilled UNTIL we finally got our food. We were completely ignored while we waited our food. Not to mention, when we finally received our food we had to return the “birria ramen” due to absolutely NO FLAVOR. Leaving one member in our group without breakfast. On top of this we were automatically charged a 20% gratitude, which is acceptable at OTHER RESTAURANTS, NOT when you are offered poor service and low food quality. Safe to say we are NEVER COMING BACK and I suggest you take this review seriously before giving them your business.

Perfect Mexican Restaurant in the Hillcrest and Banker's Hill neighborhoods. My first choice!

By far the Best chilaquilas and piñata coladas.

Everything is tasty, fresh. Loads of seating inside and covered patio outside. If dont see what you are looking for, just ask. If they can muster it they will for you too.

Highly recommend.

We will be back soon.
