Really awesome food for take out. This is a real gem in OB. Grab a seat outside, but no "atmosphere" - it's just a deli/bakery.

The guys inside are nice and friendly. I've been wanting to come here for some time to compare it to my other go-to favorite deli places. I have to say, the price was pretty steep in comparison to other places where I pay $13 for a massive solid sandwich with so many added veggies, a drink and chips. Here I paid $18 without a drink included. I was bummed their meatball has pork in it and they have no chicken sandwich options as other Italian delis do. Also, I didn't choose the 'spicy' option and man, did my sandwich have a kick to it I didn't expect, so much so I had a runny nose, teary eyes and sweating a little. I'm sure for many, they'd love that but it personally made my experience unpleasant. Would I come back? Very unlikely given the $$ and lack of options compared to other places.

Best Italian deli in the area. The sandwiches are huge and the meats/cheeses/veggies are fresh and piled high. Love this place, especially the pastrami! The guys who work there are friendly too.

wow... haven't been there since COViD and prices are at least 50% higher.... i don't see how restaurants are attracting business these days. i used to consider convenience, but cost is simply too high to eat out anymore.

Hungry lu's is so good! I've been looking for good Italian sandwiches around San Diego for quite a while now. I'm so glad that I found this Italian sandwich shop. I've had their pastrami sandwich here and it was quite delicious. It had a lot of flavor and seemed like it was brined really well. Next time around I tried their Italian sandwich since it was an Italian sandwich bakery store. They did not disappoint. It was fantastic, there was a lot of meat in the sandwich which I appreciate and the bread was nice and toasted. These two are some of my favorite sandwiches in San Diego. Hungry lu's uses a lot of fresh ingredients in their sandwiches and it shows. They gave me such a cool old school Italian sandwich shop vibe and I absolutely love it. I've gotten sandwiches for a lot of friends and family and they all enjoyed it. My boyfriend says hungry lu's every time I ask someone kind of sandwich she wants. I don't blame him
I had the Italian with Cherry peppers, the feta pasta salad, & some chocolate/coconut macaroons. Everything was fantastic!! Great bread, good amount of meat. The pasta was fresh, & macaroons were outstanding!!

We've been wanting to come here for so long. But when we are in the neighborhood... we always go to OB Noodle House. But not today. We wanted to bring lunch to Dog Beach with our pup. We got a club sandwich and a cannoli. Both were delicious! Very friendly staff! We'll be back! Prices are reasonable. $13.99 for the sandwich, no tax. Cannoli was $4. Good size sandwich, we split it.

I ordered the Italian sub and swapped out provolone for cheddar cheese. The meat was sliced thinly and the bread was so fresh! I’d recommend this to family and friends when visiting for a bite after the beach

SO GOOD - I got The Italian and a macaroon mmm (forgot to get a pic of the food but it all looked and tasted delicious); nice guys behind the counter too!
