Got the cupcakes for my daughter’s promotion and was excited to try them based on the reviews. The people that worked there were super sweet but I gotta say that the frosting was overloaded with sugar, the cupcake itself seemed a bit stale and the batter was pretty tasteless. I hate to write a review like this but for a place that charges $3.50 per cupcake, it needs to be better.
The Swiss Black Forest is all time favorite. It had been a few years and this one was soo light and flavorful. Simply Amazing!!
It’s a Piece a Cake means a lot to me and my family! It was the bakery for my parent’s wedding, and now they baked my wedding cake too! They were so kind and easy to work with, and had no problems creating what I requested. The cake is always delicious and they delivered the beautiful cake to us. We highly recommend It’s a Piece a Cake!
I paid $60 for a birthday cake that looks nothing like the inspiration pic that I sent in. The cake looks like I could've decorated it myself and I was quoted $100 for delivery to La Mesa. I had higher hopes, won't be ordering from here again.
Best cakes!
Went to pick up a cake for a friend today… The cake was not ready. It was not decorated and the man decorating the cake was so mean and Hostile to me. I was standing there with my mouth open. He was very condescending when he said “I’m sorry I’m sorry it’s my mistake!! It all my fault!” But The tone that he used and his hand gestures really mean that didn’t really mean he was sorry he was just being condescending and unkind, and then when he was done, he said, “thank you for waiting three extra minutes!” , but not in a kind way again, in a super mean and condescending way, letting me know it only took him three minutes to decorate the cake. I’ve been doing business with these guys for 30 years my wedding cake, , many birthday cakes along the years and graduation cakes and I been a former wedding coordinator have referred many brides… but now I’m kind of scared to even go in. He was very mean ..the only reason I’m giving it a 2 rating is because the girl at the counter that rang me up was very nice. I left in tears. That’s how mean he was even ..if I wasn't the nicest person (which I’m nice) in the world, you should always try to be kind to your customers. Bottom line is the cake was not done sitting there unfrosted and I had a birthday I needed to get this cake to… I’m not even sure if it’s what she ordered. Unfortunately, my experience left me upset, and I will not be Doing business with them again, and I will not refer them to anyone. I’m sorry as he explained that he had all these cake orders to be decorated but if you promise a time you should be able to deliver that time to that person.
Got my mom a cake for her birthday from here. Italian Marble with Vanilla Buttercream filling and frosting. It was amazing! Very friendly staff. Highly recommend.

We ordered a cake for our wedding and my coordinator had already been in contact with them regarding where to deliver, time to deliver, if there was a stand, etc. I made both payments within the allotted time frame but was shocked when the day of my wedding the cake did not show up and no one would answer my coordinator’s emails or phone calls. Luckily, my coordinator was amazing and ran to Whole Foods to get us a couple of cakes so we would have something to serve. I can’t imagine how this would’ve gone if someone didn’t have a coordinator. I cannot believe that this place failed to deliver my wedding cake. It is a huge bummer for us because we love their Black Forest cake which is why we chose them. Needless to say, we will never come back here again and will be telling everyone to stay away from here. It is completely unprofessional to run a bakery and not follow through on a wedding cake order.
Edit: When I called the next day and asked to speak to a manager the guy who answered claimed he was the chef but he could help me with whatever I need. I told him that my cake never got delivered and he went on a tangent about how they are closed on Sundays and it is impossible for me to have ordered a cake from them and I must be calling the wrong bakery because they would never agree to deliver a cake on Sundays. I had copies of emails sent to my coordinator confirming a delivery time on our wedding date. They should not let someone who doesn’t know what is going on in the bakery to claim he can help with issues and then try and gaslight the customer. They called me back and explained that the girl who took my final payment “misplaced” my order form so they never even made my cake. To any future brides/grooms looking for a cake. Do not use this place. All it takes is for someone working the cash register to misplace your order form and no one will ever check up on the order despite multiple emails confirming a delivery date/time.

I ordered a cake from this bakery and it was honestly a very smooth transaction, I didn’t get her name.. but the woman that took my order was very kind and helpful. I am amazed with how beautiful the cake was and it was SO tasty! The workers were just so kind and easy to talk to. I will 100% be coming back and recommending this place !

Everything about my experience with this bakery was straight up perfect! Communication was clear and frequent. I needed a cake with some custom decorations for the day after father’s day. They basically got a 3 day notice and were able to make it happen with how busy they were. I sent an inspiration photo with a description of the final product. They matched it perfectly. It was ready by the time they said it would be. Total cost came out to $95 while other bakeries were quoting much higher. The cake was delicious; not overly rich nor bland. I am genuinely impressed and would recommend to anyone! Thanks to Griselda for working with me on this!

No clue why this is so highly rated, the cupcakes were on the same exactly level as grocery store cupcakes — dry and cheap tasting

A confusing experience to say the least. I called in last Friday to make a tasting appointment for wedding cakes & was told to come at 8am today. When I arrived, I was informed I should wait till 10am when the baker’s assistant comes in. The man who claims he's the owner was there that morning but verbatim said he could not put in my order (for a plain white wedding cake serving 50 people) because he's "too expensive" and needed his assistant to do it for him. But what frustrates me is that WE made an appointment for a day that was not too busy and then only 1 party showed up.
After that, the owner just ignored me, with no follow-up about what I should do next. Eventually I left since the owner kept saying he himself couldn't help with a wedding cake order.
I'm blown away by how nasty and honestly unskilled the entire experience was. I’m a local to the area and sadly wanted to offer support to the business during our big day.
*A plain white wedding cake for 50 would cost around 285.
Food 0/5 stars no chance to taste anything.
Great slices and muffins at very affordable prices with a lot of
