We ordered a cake for our wedding and my coordinator had already been in contact with them regarding where to deliver, time to deliver, if there was a stand, etc. I made both payments within the allotted time frame but was shocked when the day of my wedding the cake did not show up and no one would answer my coordinator’s emails or phone calls. Luckily, my coordinator was amazing and ran to Whole Foods to get us a couple of cakes so we would have something to serve. I can’t imagine how this would’ve gone if someone didn’t have a coordinator. I cannot believe that this place failed to deliver my wedding cake. It is a huge bummer for us because we love their Black Forest cake which is why we chose them. Needless to say, we will never come back here again and will be telling everyone to stay away from here. It is completely unprofessional to run a bakery and not follow through on a wedding cake order.
Edit: When I called the next day and asked to speak to a manager the guy who answered claimed he was the chef but he could help me with whatever I need. I told him that my cake never got delivered and he went on a tangent about how they are closed on Sundays and it is impossible for me to have ordered a cake from them and I must be calling the wrong bakery because they would never agree to deliver a cake on Sundays. I had copies of emails sent to my coordinator confirming a delivery time on our wedding date. They should not let someone who doesn’t know what is going on in the bakery to claim he can help with issues and then try and gaslight the customer. They called me back and explained that the girl who took my final payment “misplaced” my order form so they never even made my cake. To any future brides/grooms looking for a cake. Do not use this place. All it takes is for someone working the cash register to misplace your order form and no one will ever check up on the order despite multiple emails confirming a delivery date/time.

I ordered a cake from this bakery and it was honestly a very smooth transaction, I didn’t get her name.. but the woman that took my order was very kind and helpful. I am amazed with how beautiful the cake was and it was SO tasty! The workers were just so kind and easy to talk to. I will 100% be coming back and recommending this place !

Everything about my experience with this bakery was straight up perfect! Communication was clear and frequent. I needed a cake with some custom decorations for the day after father’s day. They basically got a 3 day notice and were able to make it happen with how busy they were. I sent an inspiration photo with a description of the final product. They matched it perfectly. It was ready by the time they said it would be. Total cost came out to $95 while other bakeries were quoting much higher. The cake was delicious; not overly rich nor bland. I am genuinely impressed and would recommend to anyone! Thanks to Griselda for working with me on this!

No clue why this is so highly rated, the cupcakes were on the same exactly level as grocery store cupcakes — dry and cheap tasting

A confusing experience to say the least. I called in last Friday to make a tasting appointment for wedding cakes & was told to come at 8am today. When I arrived, I was informed I should wait till 10am when the baker’s assistant comes in. The man who claims he's the owner was there that morning but verbatim said he could not put in my order (for a plain white wedding cake serving 50 people) because he's "too expensive" and needed his assistant to do it for him. But what frustrates me is that WE made an appointment for a day that was not too busy and then only 1 party showed up.
After that, the owner just ignored me, with no follow-up about what I should do next. Eventually I left since the owner kept saying he himself couldn't help with a wedding cake order.
I'm blown away by how nasty and honestly unskilled the entire experience was. I’m a local to the area and sadly wanted to offer support to the business during our big day.
*A plain white wedding cake for 50 would cost around 285.
Food 0/5 stars no chance to taste anything.

Got a cake for my son's birthday and absolutely loved this place. It is a family business which I am proud to support. Their cake was delicious and a hit. We enjoyed it so much that we went back to sample some of their other treats. The cookies were delicious as well as their muffins. Please make the stop here, it is so good and you will not regret it

Pastries are subpar at best. Found hairs one time. One of the employees/manager is kind of a prick.

Now that’s a cannoli! There’s even chocolate chips inside and the price is right. Yum! I was greeted at the counter and offered time to browse. They were very kind and helpful. Can’t wait to try more!
I've never had a bad experience with It's A Piece A Cake since I've been going here for 30+ years (since childhood). Hand's down one of my favorite bakeries anywhere and definitely the best I've tried in San Diego.
I stopped here because of the reviews I saw on Google. I needed cupcakes for my son’s birthday party. Being new to the area, I was unsure of where to go but after walking in the door and meeting the Owner it was synergy. We spoke about a few things unrelated to cupcakes. He’s very cool, very friendly. It’s a family run business. I explain to him what I was looking for. He explained to me how he could help me and best serve the birthday party. We chose vanilla, cupcakes, red velvet cupcakes, and chocolate cupcakes, and I gave him the date and time that I would pick it up. When the date came the cupcakes were ready, he showed me exactly what I purchased. He even threw in a couple of extra ones for my son’s birthday. At the birthday party, they were a hit moms were asking if they could take some home, the kids were eating them as fast as I could unwrap them and everyone had a great time. This is a family run bakery, it’s a hidden gem, and I will definitely be back.
