This was my first trip to SD and Izola bakery was one of my top spots to checkout and I’m disappointed with my experience.

I came here with my friend, I ordered a caramel latte and the black olive croissant and she ordered the almond croissant and iced caramel latte. The server comes with two almond croissants and no drinks. We tell them our drinks are missing and that my order is wrong, I ordered the black olive croissant not the almond croissant. The server apologizes and said the black olive croissant was probably sold out and that’s why they gave me the almond croissant and asked if there was anything else I wanted. Which is ridiculous, if the item I ordered was sold out, the young man at the register who took my order should’ve told me before I ordered it instead of substituting without my knowledge.

The server comes back with the replacement item but this time with the wrong drink, he apologized and brought me the correct drink.

A few minutes later, I see two women seated next to me with two black olive croissants(this was 20mins after I ordered), I go to the young man who took my order and the manager, and told them the women next to me has the black olive croissants but I was told it was sold out, the young man who took my order didn’t apologize, him and the manager told me the two women probably did a pickup order.

My experience overall was very disappointing, the croissants were delicious but this bakery needs to be honest with their customers and be more organized.

Great bakery! All 3 pastries we ordered were delicious - my favorite was the chocolate almond croissant. The staff was very polite and the atmosphere was pleasant, with musicians playing live music towards the back. I highly recommend Izola!

I’ve been a fan since about 5 years ago when the chef was taking orders from the sidewalk up to the 3rd floor on only a few days a week. It was excellent quality food then and now it’s even better with a bigger selection and a great venue. Coffee is also fantastic.

Amazing croissant!!! We had the bimbimbap. They were out of the one with beef and I’m sure if the vegetarian one was this awesome, the beef one will be even better. We loved it!

Absolutely phenomenal! Worth every single penny. Coffee drinks are outstanding and the Bakery goods are absolutely top notch. They care about their ingredients and they care about the execution and it shows! The service was outstanding as well as the ambience.
If you’re lucky, there will be a line outside, I refuse to stand in lines, so I tried going a few times, and then was able to get in, but again, it was worth it!

Chiming in here with all the other good reviews - food great, service great, vibe is great (especially if you come here early in the morning when no one is there).

If you get nothing else? The Tahitian Vanilla Knot and their standard croissant are an excellent one-two punch.

Izola is incredible. The service is friendly and attentive, and the pastries are easily some of the best I've ever had. The Bibimbap Croissant and Tahitian Vanilla Knot are next level, both being perfectly balanced with a beautiful flavor and texture. Their laminated dough is nicely buttery with a fairly light consistency, so the experience is pure pleasure, versus a dough that is more hearty/substantial (which is great in its own way!). Highly recommend.

Favorite baked good in SD so far. The veggie bibimbop and s'mores croissant are tremendous. The marshmallow is made in house and they bruleed so that it melts onto the chocolate brownie on the inside of the croissant at your table. I took home a loaf of garlicb sourdough which was fantastic sliced, toasted, and dipped in olive oil. Will definitely be coming back to eat through the menu in next few weeks/months.

Came here on a Friday morning around 10am and a lot of stuff was sold out but they had stuff coming out the oven if you wanted to wait. I came here for the beef bibimbap croissant and managed to snag the last one because of one of the bakers/workers (Colin) and I was sooooo excited. His customer service really elevated my experience here and the croissant was 10/10!! (Although $17 is a little pricey but I’m still glad I got to experience it!)
