It's a quirky place. But the food is amazing and it's always packed.

Really unbelievably bad food. The tamal was dry and tough, the chile relleno had a totally uncooked batter that was just mush, the vaunted special sauce that they claim is their favorite is way too spicy (without any warning, either in the menu or by the waiter), and the extra sauce that came with the non-meat taco was a bowl of inedible grease and boiled vegetables. Will definitely never be back.

Outstanding chicken burrito. Great value for the price and great service.
My only criticism was that my burrito was drenched in the sauce I ordered. Next time I will ask for sauce on the side or no sauce at all.

This hole-in-the-wall locale is a unique and incredible restaurant of San Diego. I have come here for dinner for years every time I am in town, and it never disappoints. Keep in mind it does close earlier than some dinner restaurants (last call is 7:30). However, I recommend anyone who loves authentic Mexican food to make Jimmy Carter's a stop on their trip.

Parking: You must park along the street as there is few lots in the area. The spots are metered until past 6pm.

Delicious!! Breakfast before flight home and it was as good as some of our favorites in HTX. We had the chilaquiles and tostada with coffee and horchata. ❤️❤️
