Literally the best karaage chicken I’ve ever had. Drinks were phenomenal, so fun and unique. Definitely recommend. One con was that when we went through the secret door the first thing we saw were “wet floor” signs that were stored in the dark hallway, so it kind of took the magic out of the initial entrance…But whatev, that’s an easy fix and it was delicious.

A pretty cool ‘hidden’ bar near the East Village. It’s located inside a bakery and you 100% need reservations or else you’ll be waiting for 45 minutes. The hostess is really nice and helpful. I give Kamon a 4.7/5.Drinks are very creative and tasty—they even had a fun durian drink called “trash panda.” The spumoni and the chocobo were really cool drinks as well. The place is very posh but thankfully doesn’t have a dress code. Another good thing is that the prices are really reasonable for this type of bar. Drinks are $10-15 each, which isn’t insane for specialty cocktails in a special setting in San Diego. The downside—why I scored the food 4/5–is that the hanger steak we ordered, while texturally good, tasted kind of like lighter fluid. Also the food took 45 minutes to come! That said, the cauliflower steak and truffle fries were pretty good. For me, it’s definitely worth a second try.

I was the DD of our group and the virgin drink menu was refreshing and delicious. I appreciated the menu including me as well as my drinking comrades. ? The cucumber salad is very tasty.

Great cocktails, but it suffers due to its undying commitment to be a speakeasy. The “hidden” door is very cool, but this could be an easy to find craft cocktail bar and excel. There’s no sign to wait to be seated, so be prepared to be scolded if you attempt to take a seat at the bar (as one would naturally do, at a bar…). If you don’t have a reservation, you’ll be told that you can only stay for an hour - even if OpenTable has reservations still available for the whole night. (The irony of a speakeasy requiring reservations is well… ironic). Also, don’t try to leave through the front door. An unmarked back door is the only way out. Again, the cocktails are great and well priced, but they aren’t the star of this very frustrating performative “experience.”

Great first time there. The drinks were delicious, the apps were good as well, service was good even tho it was busy. We were sat pretty quickly and not pressured to leave. Really enjoyed it!

Another speak easy in San Diego! Located inside a bakery. Making reservations for the weekday was pretty easy. I made mine the same day. This is a Japanese inspired bar. They offer small food from the bakery. Kitchen closes at 9pm. My friend and I shared the chicken sando sandwich. The bread was so soft and fluffy. Assuming the bakery baked it. The drinks were good and standard pricing. I got a refreshing drink while my friend got an old fashion. There's a bar area seating and some tables. They also had a bigger room in the back for big groups. Chill spot to talk and sip on drinks.

This place is hard to find, which lends to the speakeasy vibe. Great ambiance inside. This is a great place to get dressed up and go on a date or have a few drinks with friends. The cocktails were delicious and creative. The presentation was top-notch.

We loved our experience! Our server Sam was amazing and very knowledgeable. I had an extremely tasty drink called The Jungle Bird. My fiancée had The Midnight Train and a Negroni. All of the drinks were fabulous. We ate the Chicken dish as an appetizer and it was amazing. Ambience was great, quiet. 5 Stars. Will be returning!

I enjoy a fun little, hidden speakeasy as much as the next guy but if the secret entrance is located inside a bakery, I'm even more intrigued. The bar has a super cool, 1920's Japanese theme with a classy, dimly lit main room, an encased zen garden and plenty of fun, creative drinks. Yours truly had the Hors D'oeuvres, a cocktail with salami flavored gin and mustard. Weird? A little. Tasty? Heck yes. Highly recommended. One of the best aspects about Kamon is that they also offer bites, unlike most speakeasies. We had truffle fries, takoyaki and scallops. All were amazing and affordable. Service was prompt and friendly and we had a great by time. 100% would revisit.

This speakeasy style cocktail bar is located inside the Asa Bakery. They offer a wide range of good cocktails, Japanese whisky, and lite fare of Japanese foods (Karaage, Sando sandwiches, etc.) The environment is very stylish and it's a quiet place to enjoy a drink. Great place for friends or a date night.

We made a reservation on a Friday night and came when they opened. The ambiance is great - moody and elevated. The service at the bar can be a bit slow if the bar seating is full and there's only 2 bartenders. We ordered the chicken karaage and it was tasty. Giant, juicy chicken pieces! My husband enjoyed 2 cocktails that were on the opposite spectrum of flavors. I wanted a mocktail off the menu and they were able to create delicious drinks. My only ask that would have made the experience even better was if the bartender asked me questions about what flavors I wanted for the mocktail. It would've been appreciated if they showed some creativity by leading.
