After reading some reviews, because it was close to our hotel, we gave KSBC a try.
Well, that turned out to be a good idea!
Ricco, an interested waiter, came to have a nice chat. He recommended the beer-brined pork chops. My husband has never had such delicious pork chops!

If you are looking for a great meal with amazing beer, I highly recommend Karl Strauss. One of the best steaks I have ever had!!!! Their beer offerings are incredible and they are quick to offer sample pours.

food was delicious. i had the beer-battered burger with the red trolley ale—both were outstanding, and the flavors complemented each other perfectly.
the scene was great: lively and busy, but not too loud to have a conversation.
the staff were wonderful—kind, attentive, and knowledgeable about both the beer and the food.
overall, i absolutely love this place and can’t wait to come back.

The food was really good with some unique options. The black mahi tacos were very good and not fishy. Great selection of beers and our waitress was great at bringing us samples. The whole meal was great. Parking was down the street in a lot so it cost $15 for parking but it was a nice walk after dinner.

I like Karl Strauss, they have delicious food and drinks. I had bad service from a server there who was upset because I ordered a kids meal (which a lot of us locals would do) and she gave me bad service with a bad attitude anytime I came in after that. I left a review because I don’t think it was fair to me as a paying customer. I’ve had the pork chops, Wings, salmon, mashed potatoes, all very good food. I always come here because of that. I went in the other day ordered some wings and the server whom I had made a complaint about served me the wings & she whispers “ thanks for your yelp reviews 🙂” After this I feel so uncomfortable I don’t want my food. I tell the manager that one of the servers made me feel so and I would leave he apologized, really nice guy he asked me if I wanted the food to go I said no thank you, I asked if he wanted me to pay he said no and I left. As I walked down the block I hear the same girl coming after me yelling “excuse me” I just ignored her and she ran to me and told me I needed to return and pay for my food, I let her know I spoke to her manager and he said I did not have to pay( the plate was untouched) and I asked her if she wanted me to go back with her so we could talk to him & she said no no she would talk to him and then she said “ I don’t know why you keep coming back here if you have a problem with me. “ I just walked away and said nothing because there was no point in talking to her.

Visiting SD for work, but also lived here for over 10 years prior to this. I have been to KS many times but never this location. On my first night in, I was greeted by Rico (kindly waited until I was off the phone) and he immediately complimented my colorful Vans! Had a quick dinner at the bar. Awesome everything. Returned tonight, a couple nights later, and Rico remembered me, greeted me with a friendly smile and stellar service. Made an incredible dinner reco (chop chop salad!!) and was just super pleasant to be around. Looking forward to returning on my next business trip!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Karl Strauss, and I have to say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The highlight of my visit was definitely my server, Rico. He was one of the best servers I’ve encountered in a long time—extremely attentive, personable, and, most impressively, incredibly knowledgeable about the beer selection.

Rico took the time to ask about my preferences and pointed me in the perfect direction for both food and drink pairings. His recommendations were spot on, and it was clear he really knows his stuff when it comes to beer. He made some great suggestions that elevated the meal, enhancing the overall experience.

The food was also fantastic—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. But it was Rico’s exceptional service that truly made the meal memorable. I’ll definitely be back, not just for the food and beer, but to see Rico again! Highly recommend Karl Strauss for anyone looking for a great dining experience.
