The burgers are really good but the thing that sets them apart is the service. I'm pretty sure it's the owners (Chris for sure) who wait on you and they are pleasant and fun. It appears to be oriented toward locals but its worth the drive (we came from Chula Vista) wherever you live in the SD metro. Oh, and the French fries are next level!

I’ve been coming to Key and Cleaver for quite a while now, and they’ve never once let me down. The food is always cooked to perfection! No matter what I order, it comes out just right. The service is quick without ever feeling rushed, and the staff is so welcoming that it feels like visiting friends every time I stop in. Their drinks are also top notch. They are carefully made and consistently delicious. It’s rare to find a place that delivers on every detail, every time, but Key and Cleaver does exactly that.

Awesome place! Hole in the wall but great! Staff was 10/10 Extremely friendly and welcoming to pets. The food was great. Margaritas excellent and selection of beer on fleek. It’s the first place where tipping is well deserved and you want to support a local business! Pets are welcome!

Key and Cleaver is one of my favorite spots for burgers in San Diego. The backyard-style burgers have a premium touch, and they are absolutely phenomenal. The fries are tasty, the beers are excellent, and the overall vibe is great. The owner is super friendly, which makes the experience even better. Highly recommend if you are looking for amazing burgers and a welcoming atmosphere.

Beef flavor on burger, fire! Bun fresh, soft and chewy! Homemade sauces, flavorful! Happy hour and beer selection, man! Service, pleasant! Asked for something spicy, offered me local craft hot sauce and fresh chopped chillis. The fries are unique, crispy and creamy too. No baised, but best burger in SD and I’ve been here over five years now.

I've eaten here many times. I go at LEAST once a month for the burger of the month. They play women's sports. Got a secret little rooftop. My go to burger place everywhere else is ruined for me. And the best veggie burger, they'll replace any of their burgers with a veggie if you ask!

Came in on a Saturday morning and let me just say that the Swiss and mushroom burger was hands down the best burger I’ve had in a while. Also the garlic aioli was delicious and a perfect touch! Food made up for the bartender that wasn’t supper attentive but overall a great place for a quick bite. Will be back!
