Egg burger was delicious! uniquely and satisfyingly flavorful. some other dishes didn't hold up in comparison. I got the carbonara and it was trying to replicate a meat dish rather than being it's own thing. fun drinks! fun vibe!

Kindred had SO many different amazing vegan apps and entrees. The egg burger in particular was really good. Also it was not too expensive. The ambiance and art in the restaurant gave it a hip and hopping vibe. I would definitely recommend for anyone in San Diego to check out!

Love the food and drinks. Even my non vegan partner is talking about wanting to go back for the sandwich he had. Always a great time.

LOVE Kindred! This is my favorite restaurant in San Diego with the best drink menu and elevated comfort classics. Last visit we shared the cosmo knots, caesar's palace with Gardein schnitzel and the BBQ jackfruit sandwich - YUM! Also had the amazing Spinal Tap to drink and hubs had the espresso martini with Laphroaig. Superb!

Didn’t live up to the hype. Started off strong with the cosmo knots being delicious. The chimichurri skewers had great sauce but the seitan was pretty plain. The mind melt didn’t have much of any flavor and BBQ jackfruit sandwich has flavor but felt like it was missing something, just not very exciting. Oh also wanted to mention it took over an hour to get our food and we had a 5:15pm reservation which is right after they open. Updated from previous review on 2026-01-25

The food quality is high and the menu is innovative. However some of the dishes are surprisingly small. Tofu skewers are an appetizer size. Mac and cheese was supposed to have greens but were completely left out. Waitress said they are mixed in but that we got short changed. Then she walked away.
The service is completely lacking. Had a reservation. Made to wait a long time, even though table was ready.
Kitchen was slow. An hour wait to receive our food.

Hand’s down the best vegan restaurant in San Diego. We heard the wait at Kindred could be long, and honestly, it was—but it was absolutely worth every minute.
Finding an all-vegan menu where every single dish hits hard is rare, but this place is on another level. We ordered a few things to share, and the flavors were incredible.
The Wait: Yes, there’s usually a line, but don't let that scare you off. The service is solid once you're seated, and the food quality justifies the hype.
If you are in South Park, do yourself a favor and put your name on the list.

Kindred is loud & energetic- not the place for quiet talking. The menu is quite different- take a look before you go. They were out of several things when we went at 5PM, so make sure you don't have your heart set on just 1 thing. The server was nice, but we were there about 20 minutes before she took our order, and it was close to an hour before we got our food. Luckily, we were with friends, so we were not just sitting there. The food was quite tasty, and the prices were reasonable, so that was good.

Great atmosphere, vibe, and food.

Was pleased to see that their BBQ jackfruit sandwich was back on the menu (after seven several years of it being gone). Unfortunately, it was not the same. It is no longer served with the delicious homemade potato chips and it had way too much mayonnaise. Also, we were there an hour before the food arrived! Halfway through the meal, the server took the water jug away from our table and never brought it back. Nor did he refill our water glasses. We expected better from Kindred.

The food and drinks are absolutely exceptional. This place was hands down incredible and I will definitely be going back soon

Went there on a Thursday night with my friend for some food and drinks. The service was friendly but very slow. On average, it took them 30 minutes for each round of drinks for two. The food was good, and the pricing was reasonable. The worst part of the night was that the waitress lost my credit card 5 minutes after I handed it to her. Apparently, they were understaffed, and the waitress was not able to keep up with the demand from the overloaded job

Food and Service were excellent, even outstanding, especially the drinks. The physical ambiance was quite delightful, but the music level was terribly excessive, even disturbing. We asked them to lower the music sound level, but they would not. We would not return there.

This place is totally a heavy metal rock n roll bar with kickass vegan food! All in all a very cool vibe and experience.
