Start by saying the food is absolutely delicious. The sake was fantastic and the Japanese IPA hit the spot. The only issue with the place is the ambiance. The fish coolers on the bar were empty, which just created a barrier between us and the chef. If you're not using them, just take them out. Also, would be great if they played Japanese Christmas/rock music instead of American or something. The menu is a bit confusing, too. You can make any Nigiri a maki roll but you have...
Komatsuya is a bit of a hidden gem tucked up in Mission Hills. Behind the Spanish exterior is a clean and quiet restaurant there offers an 8-course Omakase kaiseki-ryori dinner experience; it felt like we had been welcomed into someone’s home.
