A rare 5 star but it was such a great experience. The choices of drinks was best if seen for awhile. The girls patient and kind. I love them greeting the local regulars warmly and by first name. The coffee really good. Could be hotter, but still yum.

What more could you possibly want than a cold brew and a breakfast breakfast burrito with an ocean view?

This is a great place for regular American breakfast at good prices. Seating areas inside, outside on the boardwalk and outside overlooking the beach.

SUPER good breakfast! My family and I were here for 5 days and we came here twice for breakfast and it never disappoints. The food came out super fast both times and their service was amazing!! Their potatoes and pancakes are to die for!

Came around 10 am and there was already a line out the door. It was also sprinkling so no outdoor seating was available. The line actually moved faster than I thought and we were able to put an order in at the front. The seating inside is quite small and limited. I ordered the breakfast burrito #5 with chorizo in it. The size of the burrito is pretty big and satisfied my appetite. The flour tortilla is thick and cooked well, and the chorizo, bell peppers, and eggs filled the burrito quite nicely. However, it was really hot and it sat inside my stomach hot as well. For the side of potatoes, they looked really good but they are not seasoned at all not even with salt or pepper so it didn't really have any flavor. Overall, the location of the cafe is nice and the burrito is good for the price you pay here.

It's disappointing, for real. The food taste is below average, we order different things and all the food was meh. The service, basically is like being in a fast food restaurante. Finally, the ambience, inside is old and crowded, outside is better but nothing that exceeds the expectation

Great location, yummy affordable food. We ordered at the counter, and they brought our food out almost immediately! Everything was tasty and the portions were huge. It's a small space, not good for groups. But I'll definitely be back.

Family-owned joints like this, that have been around for decades, often become so beloved that their reputation precedes them far outside of their supposed sphere of influence. Case in point: I'd heard of Kono's Cafe all the way back home in Portland, so I knew we were in for good things here.Queue up to order: there will be a line, but it moves fast enough to not be an issue, and slow enough to allow you to whittle down your selection before ordering. I had the Kono's Burger (fantastic! if I don't need to ask for steak sauce, that says something!), my wife had the chorizo breakfast sandwich, and the rest of our party of friends had...other stuff that I didn't pay attention to. Nobody left hungry or dissatisfied, I can tell you that! There isn't any "service" other than the interaction with those at the counter, but even that brief encounter was jovial and welcoming; the owners and employees here seem happy to be there and to serve, which is always a plus. But hey, if I worked on the San Diego coast, I'd probably like my job more, too! I also dig the surfer vibe they've got going on here. It really ties everything together. Very recommended, and lives up to everything good I'd heard about the Kono Cafe! Would return in a heartbeat!

Step into Kono's and step into a world where the sun, surf, and scrumptious breakfast collide in perfect harmony. Nestled right by the beach, this gem radiates with a contagious energy that's impossible to resist. The staff are like old friends, greeting you with warmth and genuine smiles. The French toast and pancakes were so delicious and filling making a great start to the day!Kono's isn't just a restaurant; it's a sanctuary for beach lovers and breakfast enthusiasts alike. A true coastal treasure that captures the essence of California's laid-back charm.

Reasonable price for big breakfast plate. Martin, the counter guy, is super friendly. I ordered little breakfast and it was not little! Be prepared to be full for half day.
