This is a great restaurant. The decor is amazing - the walls and menus all feature classic album artwork. The food is delicious and the service was good.
A very unique environment with great food and service

Do not hesitate to visit La Puerta, even if there is a wait! We had dinner on Friday which was excellent. After a full day of bike riding, decided to stop in for a beer and chips & salsa. Ended up having dinner again which was awesome. We sat at the bar and Carlos was extremely friendly and helpful. We tried both flights of tequila that they offered which were excellent. On Friday we had a round of cocktails, a margarita and a mezcal. We had the Mexico City salad and the chochinita quesadilla which were delicious. For Saturday started with chips and salsa which were some some of best we have had. Followed up with the tostada it's and the ranchero shrimp quesadilla. Again both were excellent. Portions are very good portions. Will return next time we are in San Diego!

This place has a crazy amount of hype, sadly this did not pan out, first they do not serve fountain drinks, only bottles of soda so that’s an extra $5 a drink.. just not my favorite especially after a Long Beach day. Food was good just not as amazing as i really was expecting, very fun bar environment so that makes things fun so if your looking to drink alcohol and pay for each drink then this is your place, really wanted to love this place but just was okay.

Really good tacos, super friendly bartenders. The people that were there with me were very excited to eat their meals as well. It’s been a few weeks and I still think about the tacos

One of the best restaurants in the city! Delicious food, fun music-themed menus, and friendly service. Highly recommend.
Saw an insane amount of reviews here plus walking by, this place is always busy. Also huge portions here as well! We started off ordering a large Cantina Chopped salad which probably should have been a small or medium. This had romaine lettuce, cabbage, corn, cucumber, tomato, carrot, panela & cotija cheese, cilantro lime dressing, chipotle crema, tortilla strips, avocado, serrano-lime vinaigrette. Then I ordered the Viva Mexico Tacos Especial which is 3 Tacos served with Refried Beans, rice, rajas con crema, cotija cheese and limes. As for the Tacos it came with Arrachera steak, melted jack cheese, grilled onion and poblano, avocado, panela cheese, crema. The Panela cheese was an absolute game changer. My partner got the Surf and Turf Burrito (Arranchera steak, shrimp, ranchero sauce, grilled onion and poblano, jack cheese, guacamole, chipotle crema). The food was amazing, I see why there is such good reviews for this restaurant. We also had room for dessert so we got the Churros which were stacked log cabin style and it came with some ice cream and dulce de leche. Amazing dessert. Overall service was insanely good too, always someone to refill water, food came out quick, any requests were taken fast! Definitely recommend!

Restaurantji Recommends
We were there around 3 pm on Sunday and they still had people waiting to get in . Luckily we got a seat right away since it was just two of us. The service was friendly and attentive snd the vibe was fun. We got ceviche and tacos which were all very delicious. The ingredients were super fresh and my 10 years old daughter loved ceviche . Definitely recommend if you want to try good tacos in San Diego !

Fantastic tacos, fun vibe and music. Would recommend food 100%
Had an incredible lunch here today. The food was amazing. I really enjoyed the chips and guac, and also the breakfast burrito. Service and drink refills could have been better, but the food made up for it.

Chips and salsa - 5 - house made chips, thick and crunchy. Great green salsa, red salsa was unique but not for us.
Carne Asada tacos - 4 - with tomato, onions, guac. Really good.
Carne and egg burrito - 3 - huge, hard to eat. My son thought it needed more meat and less other toppings.

The food was amazing here!! It’s so authentic and the flavors are so good. I had the veggie tacos and my husband had the steak tacos. We ate here 2 times while visiting San Diego for a few days. The service was fantastic too! I can see why they were voted top 10 taco spots. Try this place out!!
