Employee made eye contact with us, then decided to continue counting change without a single word exchanged. As hotel guests, we learned to just go to a plethora of other coffee shops nearby that are way more welcoming with an even more trendy updated menu. The first time I didn't go to a coffee shop in a hotel I stayed in.

Nice place but not cheap.

$2.25 for hot water. $3.34 for a banana. $5.06 for a coffee. Hotel markup is one thing but get over yourself!

Freezer has been broken for “about a month and we don’t know when it will be fixed.” So no açaí bowls. Ordered a decaf latte (and was supposedly served such) then on the third day was told the decaf side has also been broken and decaf, isn’t, and hasn’t been available… not sure if she just didn’t want to go to the trouble or if the other 2 employees just gave me regular coffee. Sounds like the place needs some maintenance or something.

Located inside the Catamaran Resort & Spa, Lava Java, is a tikki themed small coffee shop that also offers a selection of pastries, wraps, fruit cups, yogurt and other assorted beverages to purchase. We were regular customers during our stay. Everyone we met was kind and pleasant. It was nice to have an independent entity instead of the usual coffee conglomerate  seen on every street corner.I wish I would have taken photos but my need for caffiene superseeded any thoughts of photography!♿️ Lava Java is handicap accessible and easy to access via the lobby of the resort.

Went here the other morning and the coffee tops/cups don’t work and drip alll over!! You don’t notice it at first and then you just have little drips of coffee all over your shirt! Super annoying and not tourist/on the go friendly. Had to deal with little drops of coffee constantly coming out from the seam of the cup and all around the rim because the tops are so cheap. Dripping on your hand/sleeve etc.

Absolutely horrible. Came down to get coffee at 8:30 am. The menu board was covered with butcher paper, so I thought maybe they were limited with their drink availability. So I asked the girl working what they had. She was so condescending in her reply, she clearly doesn’t belong in a customer-facing position. I ended up ordering a small latte and two small hot chocolates — it was $22 for those 3 items! The coffee was okay, the hot chocolates were lukewarm and watery. They also offered danish and breakfast items, each priced at $5.75+ each. Waters were $4. Obviously we expect a small premium for convenience but this was outrageous. Never, ever again.

A coffee shop that doesn't sell coffee. I spent a week at the Catamaran where this place is located. The shop could have served a highly caffienated group of attorneys, if it was open and working. But it wasn't. 1:00 pm between sessions it was closed completely. Every other time the espresso machine and milk steamer were both supposedly nonfunctional. It seemed more like the staff just didn't want to make drinks. Walk a block to the Cafe 20/20 it is totally worth it.

Coffee was pretty good. Breakfast burrito was not worth the price. The tortilla got stuck to the wrapper and was not very edible. Over priced, but I guess you pay for the convenience when staying at the hotel.

The coffee here is crazy delicious. I think I visited Lava Java twice a day for my caffeine fix while staying at the Catamaran. There is an awesome lady, with blonde hair, working there that is so kind and friendly. Kudos to you for being so up and outgoing with your customers. I will say the high quality coffee can leave you waiting in line but it's worth it.

Today, I grabbed a latte from Lava Java, and specified “oat milk” when placing my order with the male employee. I also asked for light ice. Pretty simple order. I then heard the female employee who was making my drink make a sarcastic comment about me asking for light ice. Ok no big deal, who cares. As I walked away, taking one sip of the drink, I immediately realized it was made with cow milk. I approached the two employees and asked in a friendly manner if they had by chance used regular milk rather than oat milk. The female employee who made my drink gave me a dirty look and said “yea because that’s what you ordered, you ordered regular milk”. I stood in silence for a moment as I was pretty surprised by the negative reaction to my friendly question. The male employee chimed in with “yea you definitely asked for regular milk”.I ignored the fact that these employees were giving me the death stare while lying to me, as if I don’t know what I ordered, and I asked if they could remake the drink with oat milk. The male employee stated that he would have to charge me for an entire drink again to remake it. The female continued to state that she knows I ordered regular milk…I have actually never had an experience like this before where I was friendly despite receiving an incorrect order and being told I’m wrong by employees speaking sarcastically and giving me dirty looks. And then trying to charge me again for THEIR mistake!I seriously regret leaving these employees a tip, as they clearly did not deserve it.UPDATE: Catamaran just replied to my review, with a copy and paste style reply…without reaching out to me to offer any remedy for this terrible experience. Even after leaving two separate voicemails for two managers, I have not received a call back.

Wow. $4.00 down the drain. Truly bad, machine generated coffee that looked nothing like in the pictures. I usually never throw food away but in this case had to make an exception. Avoid if you like your coffee drinkable.
