First time staying at this Kimpton in the heart of San Diego. I am a loyal Kimpton follower and am part of their loyalty program. I love how unique each property is and when you have good staff, the customer is treated like gold. The team at Alma, specifically Danny and Noah, made my short time there so special. Danny reached out prior to my stay and was so informative and helpful with things to do, restaurants, and hotel info. I was able to meet him at checkout and he is just a fantastic human! Noah was friendly and kind at check in and throughout our stay. The hotel is near the waterfront and is close to everything we wanted to see (and the airport). SD is huge, so having a car is helpful. Alma offers valet parking only, but there are plenty of garages nearby. Our room was huge and gorgeous (we had a suite which I would highly recommend). Super cool graffiti wallpaper, fun light fixtures, and gorgeous balconies, tons of space to relax or work. There is a pool on the 4th floor that was open. Leave of Absence bar there was not and the pool was a little cool for me. Great spot to chill though. Plenty of seating including cabana beds. Kimpton has a great amenity program if you've forgotten anything at home. They offer complimentary wine hour from 5-6 in the lobby. This hotel has three restaurants. We tried The Cafe for breakfast and it was perfect. This hotel has an exceptional selection of branded merch in the lobby. Why not purchase something to commemorate your stay? I'll be back here soon thanks to the incredible service.

The staff members at Kimpton Alma were amazing! Everyone from the front desk to the bar and the restaurants provided excellent service. The hallways and doors need some TLC (new paint and wood touch up), and unfortunately the surrounding area has a lot of homelessness. But, my room was comfortable and my experiences with staff were great!

From check-in to check-out, the Kimpton Alma experience was exceptional. Staff, food (room service and cafe), and common areas were all fantastic. We had a 19th floor room that had views over the city and the ocean - which was a treat in the morning, and especially at sunset. Being in the heart of the Gas Lamp quarter of San Diego was a great base for us as we explored on foot. We were also only minutes away (by car) to some of the other districts of San Diego. It's a great city, and this hotel made the whole trip one to remember.

From the gorgeous balcony view, to the gigantic soaker tub to the Eastern King bed that hugged me like a pillow, not to mention the room service meal and the AMAZING front desk staff, our stay at the Kimpton Alma made a perfect weekend even more so.

Hotel was beautiful! Got to enjoy the pool, the 1st floor wine hour and the great views from my balcony. The supervisor Noah went out of way to make sure my stay was perfect from check-in to check-out! Can’t wait to come back.

We are having a great time in San Diego and are happy with this choice of hotel. The Kimpton is central, the room is comfortable, clean, practical and has a huge window that lets in a lot of light. Tahliah at the reception provided us with one of the friendliest and most competent guest services I ever encountered. She gave us good advice, coupons for complimentary drinks and even knew how to handle our tax exemption status, which most people don't know about. Thank you so much!

This is a terrible hotel. Even with a room upgrade we were in a room with: no closet, no drawers, very little light. Couldn't find a spot in this "suite" to read. Also not a great part of town. Have stayed at Kimpton hotels before and this was very, very disappointing.

Love this spot for a rooftop pool day! they have delicious bites & poolside drinks too. I love their frozen pina colada drinks and the Mediterranean board. Their staff was awesome and whether you're a local or visitor, it's a great spot to soak up the sun!

The vibes here are a perfect 10/10 - with poolside seating, cabanas and tables by the bar. Located at an entrance to the left of the hotel, you are escorted in an elevator to the rooftop pool. Service is really outstanding. During our meal, we met several waiters and bartenders, all of whom were helpful and attentive. I'd be happy working there too as it it's such a fun ambiance. The drinks and food that we got were really good. Get the Wet sand cocktail - you'll be happy you did. They also have bottle archive available. It's a small menu food but with some really great options. Our fish tacos were really good - with lots of fresh guacamole on top. The açaí bowl was fresh with plenty of fresh fruit.

We had a lovely room with a balcony and enjoyed the great San Diego weather with a glass of wine complements of Social Hour The room was uniquely decorated, spotlessly clean, the linens top quality and robes were quirky and fun. My colleagues and I arrived at the hotel and decided to hang at the pool. Dinner wasn't anytime soon so we decided to something to eat. Fish Tacos (Baja Style) - fish was crispy and tender on the inside. The toppings were fresh and seasoned perfectly. The tortillas on side were perfect for catching the toppings the dropped. Smoked Turkey Club Sandwich - chicken was seasoned and delicious. The fries were so yummy. The seasoning reminded me of bbq chips. Avocado Toast - perfect for the person that's not looking for anything heavy. The drinks were also good.
