I love drag queens, and I especially love Lips. I’ve been to their brunch several times and always had a great time. That’s why I was genuinely shocked to see a performer doing an Israeli Eurovision song while dressed in blue and white. Eurovision is a contest that openly includes and supports participating countries, so the choice felt political whether it was intended that way or not.
People are free to support whatever they choose, but I personally do not want my money going toward anything that aligns with Israel. I spent a lot that night, and had I known in advance, I would have made a different choice.
The other performers were wonderful, and I truly enjoyed their talent—that’s why I would never rate the venue poorly as a whole. But as a proud Palestinian person, I really wish there had been some transparency beforehand so I could make an informed decision.
