First time visit to Louisiana Purchase SD as a date night and I must say.... We will definitely visit again. The ambiance, food, staff, vibes, music, all the above delivered. You name it and LP had it. Really enjoyed the crowd favorite Catfish served with oxtail rice and smoked Gouda Mac and Cheese. I also have to shout out Loukas for providing us amazing service throughout our reservation and recommending great drinks with professional service and timely delivery of food. You will see us again, LP.
The mac and oxtails were amazing. The drinks were amazing as well. The ambiance was very nice, definitely repeat.
I recently visited The Louisiana Purchase in San Diego, and let me be very clear: this was NOT Louisiana cooking. As a Mississippi girl born and raised, I know real Southern food when I taste it — and this wasn't even close. The red beans and rice? Absolutely disgusting. The catfish? Cooked all wrong. When we say “fry the fish hard,” we mean crispy and fresh, not dark and soggy from old grease. The batter was falling off — just a mess. And the grits? I don't know what powdery substance they used, but it wasn't gouda, and it definitely wasn't real grits. It was downright inedible. If you're looking for real Southern flavor, this is not the place. Do not go here. It was a total disappointment from start to finish.
We've been here before, but has been a while. Let me start with the food, it was great as expected. Unfortunately, the experience was overshadowed by the service. I am typically very patient, and understanding since I've worked as a server before, and can appreciate the challenges of being understaffed and overbooked. However, it seem d that no one was even trying to run the show for the staff, communicate to customers, or organize a system that helped be efficient in the circumstances. Had a res for 6:30pm, showed up in time and stood at host stand for 10 mins waiting for host to return to be seated. Waited another 15 mins to get a drink order in, and didn't get drinks until almost 7:45, and the order was incorrect. After getting good offers in, it took another 30 mins for a salad and bowl of soup to come out, and then our entrees came out very shortly after unfortunately, and also had discrepancies. As we sat there for over an hour we watched 4 other tables of patrons grow frustrated as every step of the dining experience took an exceptional amount of time. The runner walked passed our table of empty water glasses twice before I could get her attention to finally get a refill. We didn't bother ordering more drinks, though we wanted to, and we were not even offered dessert. I know some nights are tougher than others, communication goes a long way in setting expectations, and someone has to take charge and lead in these situations. We could tell the staff was overwhelmed, and we'll be back, but def needs addressed with the team.
Food was delicious, drinks were so yummy. Bartenders nice, energetic and fun. Great place! I'm just sorry we waited so long to go. Cheers! See you soon!
Joe C, our Host and Waiter was so amazing, we had the Rockefeller Oysters, delicious Mocktails, Cheddar Biscuits, Shrimp and Grits, both delicious ribeye's so plenty of food to go around. So grateful for favorite restaurants. That keep on being outstanding.
after rarely checking on us or annoyed when asked for water, they dare overcharge us.. they forced a 21% tip they don't deserve calculated with already a 5% surcharge on the total. 2dishes n a drink over a hundred bucks. wow what greed. never again.
Fabulous food, ambience and service. Really enjoyed this place! The catfish was heaven! Will definitely be back!
10/10 food, and our server Ashley was amazing!
Jordan was our waiter and he went over and beyond. I love great customer service. Rasta pasta could have been better but the shrimp in it was amazing. Nice meal before I head back home to CT

Nice settings, fun crowd, and great service. The food was just ok, cuisine items are generally fried as is the case in the South. We were expecting to eat gumbo (on the menu) and jambalaya (not on the menu) but most of the items on the menu were also not available. - rice and beans were super salty and nearly not eatable - decent shrimps and grits Cocktails are very very sweet (too much for me).
Went this past Sunday with my family for our youngest daughter’s birthday. Breezy was our waitress and she was warm & inviting so this review is not on her. The chargrilled oysters needed to be cooked a little bit longer. The roux for the Etoufee was burnt and had no Cajun flavor. Catfish was very salty. The 2 hurricanes gave no buzz at all . Then our food came out 21 minutes apart. We thought the manager would have offered some sort of discount or complimentary biscuit or something but instead charged an extra $25 for “inflation” (that you have the option to have removed so we did) . The vibe was nice and we loved the old school music.
I havent been here in a few years but I went today and everything was DELICIOUS!!
I forgot how amazing this food is and as a Louisiana native it was a taste of home.
The service was phenomenal and the was so nice.
I will be back soon!!
Randy…our server was awesome. He was on point with matching my banter and made our experience so much more. Then there was an amazing staff person who stepped in as hostess and was so great about sharing her recommendations since it was our first time here. The food and drinks were WOW! Can’t wait to come back.
Amazing! Took my Fiance here who is from New Orleans and everything we tried was incredible. Ashley W was our server and she was so accommodating and helpful with everything. We will definitely be back!
