Omgggg hands down THE BEST FOCCACIA SANDWICHES IN SD!!! And they have online ordering for pickup so you can just order ahead of time and then go there and just pick it up without having to wait cuz they’re busy!

Their focaccia is a delight. I had the Milano and wished i came downtown more often during the week so I could eat this more.

Ideally I would give this place a 4.7. I found the food I ordered (roma) to be quite tasty and enjoyable but I think the price point is a bit too high for what you get. Firstly this is a stand not a restaurant, and this sandwich price is more something I would expect at a sit-down restaurant. Secondly, there is no option for a separate pick up spot for online orders, which delays the process when you made a point to order prior to avoid the time in takes to stand in line for those who did not order. While this place is a stand, there are some outdoor tables and chairs to enjoy your lunch at.

For me, it’s arguably the best sandwich in all of San Diego. Now it comes with a caveat, you have to like foccacia bread and you have to like these Italian meats. So if you’re looking for egg salad, ham and turkey or any sort of hot sandwich, this ain’t your place. But everytime I’ve ordered anything from here it’s been delicious and consistently so. The service is friendly. I’ve never had a wrong order where they messed up anything. The bread is pillowy, the meats are delicious and the veggies and accoutrements are wonderful. I’d put this up against any of the Italian sandwich shops up in LA.

I gave 3 stars for atmosphere only because it is a counter service not a diner but I love their coffee and the sandwich. It's fresh.

One of the best sandwiches I’ve had. I got the Verona. Was sort of like a caprese sandwich. All very good. Also had the lavender latte which was excellent.

Stopped into Lucca Italian Sandwich Shop for a quick lunch and found it to be a solid little spot in the Columbia District. It’s tucked away outside a high-rise office building with window ordering and a few tables in the building’s foyer for limited seating. Definitely geared toward the weekday business crowd, but it works well for a grab-and-go meal.

I went with the Roma sandwich, which came on crisp focaccia bread. The bread was fresh, flavorful, and had a really nice texture that stood out. The rest of the ingredients were fresh too, though I felt like something was just a little short of perfect — maybe a bit more prosciutto would have rounded it out better.

Overall, it was very good, and I’d absolutely recommend trying it. For the price point, I would’ve liked a touch more substance, but it’s still a quality lunch option. Not really a destination spot, but it fits its purpose well and definitely delivers for the Monday-through-Friday crowd.

All outdoor seating. The roma is a great sandwich. The luca is pretty good too.

I had come here twice and they were closed… Totally on me. Always closed on whatever Holiday.
The staff is so sweet and the bread is delicious and the sandwiches are delicious and the coffee is nice. I would come again, it’s nice to just sit outside and bask in the sun. Calm area. Yay!

I agree with others saying these are by far the best sandwiches in San Diego. They remind me of the now world famous Antico Vinaio sandwich shops in Florence Italy. What a treat to have such great sandwiches in my home town so that I don’t have to fly to Italy to get them.

the sandwiches here are great but they really need to get organized, if they are offering pick up they should have a separate pick up window and provide accurate pick up times. having to wait 20 more minutes after you order said 30 minutes for pick up is kinda crazyyyy given there’s no parking in the area 🤷‍♂️
