Nice place friendly atmosphere.
Came here for an after game Pacific San Diego event. The good:The bartenders were awesome and the bar itself was fun and great. The bad:They had way too many people packed into the top portion of the barThe ugly:After quite a few drinks I'm sure I wasn't looking too hot!The event was supposed to be catered by Maloneys... wings, nachos, sliders... I NEVER saw them put any food out and we were looking for it trust me. That was disappointing. Other than the over crowding and lack of food it was awesome. My girls and I had a good time!
So I go there last night to pick up some people, and they tell me "no hats allowed" first of all the employee that tells me this is wearing a hat, second he tells me where to put my hat, right behind the glass door he is standing at, after rounding up my group (30 minutes) I walk out and my hat is gone, and his response is "oh well, not my responsibility" now normally I'm not that upset about a lost hat but it was brand new and a gift from my wife and let's face it they aren't cheap and when I call the next day...... nothing, no one answers. They don't care about the costumers just trying to get with the drunk girls walking out. GREAT JOB BOUNCERS!
Really chill spot, always have drinks specials, almost NEVER have cover charges, really good drinks...rum and pineapple that'd I'd usually get for 10 bucks anywhere else with off name alcohol, I get for a double shot with bicardi for the same price or single shot for 8 bucks. I like the variety of sitting areas or booths, or dance floors, or their insanely beautiful bar set up. Have pool tables, makes the game interesting as some are placed in weird areas of the tavern hahaha. Fun people, GREAT music. I went with my homie King and he and I had an awesome time for pretty decent prices.
Events: Saturday Night, no cover.Gaslamp was happening as always. I always liked Maloney's for being spacious and nearly hidden underground. One thing I can't seem to get over is the heat given off in the main room, but what else would you expect when in that same room there's a clubbing crowd bouncing to Top 40. I usually find seating nearly everytime I go no matter how crowded it is. There has been times in the past when this place was pretty dead on a Saturday night, but i guess it's a hit and miss. This place is currently my Gas Lamp go-to bar when-all-else-fails and has been for the past 2 years.
So the first time I went to Maloney's I got in with no problem. It was an awesome experience. Second time I tried to go, I paid got in and then the sand guy who just saw me five minutes before I got in said I had to go because of a neck tattoo. A load of bullcrap because there were people there with more tattoos all over their body and not just their necks.
They did not let me in until it cost money to enter.
Some of the biggest beers I've ever seen! Cheap drinks, pool tables, large bar/seating area both upstairs and down. A nice change from alot of the bars downtown with room to walk around.
