Tucked in a corner of the Clairemont neighborhood, you find Maritza’s Mexican Food.
Maritza 's offers burritos, tacos, tostadas, and more! Of the tacos, the fish taco is the star. The tenderness of the fish pairs well with the vegetable elements inside the taco, creating a good flavor balance (especially when you add a little lime). It sits well within the tortilla, crafting a well rounded taco that is enjoyable. While the carne asada taco is not nearly as strong as the fish taco, it still represents a good taco in San Diego. The carne asada is cooked well, while giving a nice smoky taste with a tender inside.
When eating at Maritza’s, you also experience the lovely owners and service. When ordering your food and receiving it, the staff meet you with a kind and positive attitude that keeps you in good spirits. This is fundamental to a good restaurant, and you see this at Maritza’s.
Maritza’s Mexican Food is a good place to get some tacos in the Clairemont neighborhood. You will be met with good tacos and great people.

Drove here on my lunch break. Tried calling 15 times with no answer and the phone just kept ringing. I figured they were just busy. I get there and the sign says they are closed for 2 weeks for a recharge, totally fine and well deserved. HOWEVER, my complaint is that I wasted my lunch break coming here to find out from a note on the door they were closed. I didnt have enough time to get other food and had to go back to work starving for 5 more hours.
You guys need to state you are closed on your answering machine. If I would have known, I would have gotten lunch elsewhere.
I was so hungry and drained because I didnt get a chance to eat all day because I had to drive here thinking you just weren't answering the phone at that time.
Please be respectful to other humans and let us know on the answering machine when you are closed.
This is still the best Mexican food I’ve had in San Diego county!! Plus Carmen is so sweet!!!

Love this place. Very humble setting and high quality food. Definitely one of the best Mexican restaurants in San Diego.
Things to know: cash only, big parking lot, closed Sundays. I will absolutely be back again and again and again.

Excellent blend of ingredients and flavors which you want from a hard shell taco. It's next level of quality from the usual taquerias. The taco shell was crispy, not greasy or oily, with flavorful shredded beef.
Their beans and rice are delicious as well. You can tell they care.
I hadn't regularly kept cash on me for years until I moved nearby Maritza's. They only accept cash and that's my only gripe. The food is amazing!

Maritza’s has been my favorite for 15 years. Lots of taco shops in town but Maritza’s isn’t a taco shop. It’s like having a Mexican family member. Food is quality and cooked to order. So be prepared to wait. My personal favorite is the #8. Cannot go wrong with the Carne asada or chicken tacos. Don’t pass on the salsa. Maritza’s never disappoints.

The food is amazing, and the staff. Definitely a must visit if your not from San diego and if you are a local worth the drive because it's worth it. I promise you won't be disappointed with anything on the menu. Go support this family owned business ? and may their business continue to prosper and be blessed ?
