Lived in Japan for many years, this is easily the best tasting ramen I have had in the states. Had a particularly delicious and unique cold soup ramen last week that was vegan and exceptional. It was not the standard cold noodle dish I would have expected, like hiyashi chuka. While I am a fan of all the ramen they make, I really wanted to write this review to highlight this cold soup and to beg Menya to bring this cold ramen back every summer!

Reservation for two was made 6:00 pm Saturday 10/19/24. Got a call from restaurant to inform that waiting time is about 20 minutes. Arrived around 5:45 pm, my name on the greeting iPad in front the restaurant, clicked reservations now. Got inside the waitress told us that the name on the greeting iPad is for her old friends, and asks us to remake the reservation again! what is the coincidence, my name and number of guests are matching with the waitress’s old friends. Some thing wrong here or whatelse?

It's delicious, but it's becoming more Americanized.

Ramen is ok but a bit salty. I'm not excited about the lack of sweetness either. Not on my favorite list of ramen places.

Tonkotsu ramen here was very tasty! Broth and chashu were on point. Chashu was soft and noodles had good firmness, but not too firm. 10 out of 10 recommend.

I used to love this place and have been coming here for over two years, but since they 'remodeled,' it’s not the same anymore.

The biggest issue is that they are severely understaffed. There was only one waitress handling everything, and it looked like only two cooks were in the kitchen, so everything takes much longer than it used to.

They also replaced the pencil and paper ordering system with QR codes, which makes it harder to customize orders, like replacing noodles with bean sprouts.

Best ramen in San Diego and my favorite in the world! If you want ramen with FLAVOR, then this is the place for you.

Recommended ramen: Miso Ajitama. This is very similar to the Negi Miso ramen they used to serve. Since moving away from San Diego I have scoured the country for ramen that is as satisfying. Across San Fransisco, New York, Washington DC, and even Tokyo, Japan I have found nothing that comes close. Nothing else has the perfect combination of flavorful broth, fresh noodles, and generous toppings. Every time I come to San Diego this place is a must stop for me.

Recommended appetizers: Nagoya chicken. Don't question it, just do it. Also the Okonomi Fries if you like fish flakes!

Wait time: You can register for the waitlist up to 15 minutes before opening using the tablet outside the restaurant. If you show up at least 5-10 minutes early then you will usually be seated within the first wave even on busy days.

2024 updates: This location was renovated and now uses a convenient QR code system to let you order and pay faster. You can also customize your order with options such as Low Sodium.

If you used to come in the early days, then you might be disappointed with the decrease in toppings and the raise in prices. I still find it to be the best I've had. They could half their toppings and they would still be serving more toppings than most ramen places out there. Worth every penny to me!

Amazing ramen, is now my favorite place. What I really love is that you can order, pay and get everything done with the QR code on the table, and flavor, was amazing! I love their spicy options!

Disappointed! The normally great food was terrible. We arrived for a late lunch and all the food tasted reheated. The ramen was not up to par and something is up with the noodle quality. Please do what you must to bring up the quality.

When we come here, it’s usually fast and easy to order and receive. But this time was different. At least they have a explanation for it. There was only 2 waitresses and a couple of chefs. As we walked in we were seated fast. I came here with my mom so it was a party of 2. We noticed that they took away the paper you order on. Now you have to tell them which isn’t good for introverts who don’t like socializing with others. A couple of minutes later was the chicken karaage. It took about 10 minutes to get the actual ramen. But we ordered 2 tonkatsu ramen bowls. We received 1. And the waitress offered if we wanted an extra bowl. Perhaps she thought we were sharing?!?! So another 10 minutes go by and finally my moms food came. The food was delicious and perfectly hot. It wasn’t burning, but not cold. They came and refilled our waters every now and then.
It wasn’t the best experience we had from here-honestly it was the worst one yet when we came here-but it could’ve been worse.
Definitely come here, just hope plenty of staff are there to assist. God bless all.

Parking: Open for the whole plaza. Multiple vacant spaces.
