I came in around 2 pm on a Tuesday. The place was very quiet. There wasn’t a ton of buffet options available but there were two vegan options available. Both were quite good. The owner offered to make the garlic naan without butter which I appreciated. Kind of a hole in the wall but very good food.

Great food, good atmosphere, interesting eclectic music. The mains took a little while to come and they forgot our bread with the entree but other than that everything was great. They were very diligent in refilling water glasses which was really good.

Really delicious, and authentic food.Paneer saag was so flavorful. We order mild spice level so we can taste the food and not just the spice.Chole bhature dish was delicious too.The dishes come with rice (fragrant and fresh). The garlic naan was also nicely toasted and tasty.I love their menu too. Now we have a place to go for chaats etc.The owner gave us very good suggestions. Portion sizes are huge. So, you’ll easily have enough left overs for another meal.Plan to go there at least once a week!! May be more!!

Delicious food, fairly priced, generous portion. We ordered dinner items. 4, not 5 stars, only because of minor things like straws and knives not being stocked and the family's personal work table out among the diners. Would give 4.8-stars if I could.Binnie (sp?) is an engaging, humorous, no-nonsense proprietor. He reminds me of a New Yorker. We got a little bit of history and a touch of Ayurvedic medicine included in our visit.Beware the heat scale. Err downwards.I will return.

Best Indian restaurant in San Diego. This place is a hidden gem and is family owned. The food and service is phenomenal. The quality of the food is incredible. The Chicken Biryani was very delicious with a reasonable price and a good portion. It tasted like a great home cooked meal. The authenticity and flavor of the food was on point. Their samosa is the best. I highly recommend this place and while you are at it, don't miss out on the Masala Chai/Indian Tea, which is on another level of the art of making tea.

I don't know about the complaints about portion size. I just ordered the tandoori chicken and could not have asked for more. The food was great, the owners were nice and atmosphere was chill. Additionally, in the past I have had the chicken biryani, also a good choice. Has to easily be one of the best Indian food places in SD.

If i could put 0 stars i would. Served me raw chicken and refused to give refund. Woman who cooked the meal smiled as she knew I had taken a bite. You can die from food poisoning but I guess it's funny at Mirch Masala.Edit: you're not sorry at all. I definitely feel like you guys did that on purpose. It was weird how you watched me take a bite for a "review" and then laughed when I said it was raw. I'm going to the hospital for food borne illness and I will be contacting the health inspector that reviews your "restaurant" with my medical documents.

We came from out of state and discovered this gem! The food is very tasty, hot, and authentic. As you bite in, you can taste all the layers of spices. I highly recommend this place. If you don’t know what to eat, the owners are super helpful making sure your tastebuds are fulfilled. The owners are very accommodating, if you have a particular way that you want something made-they’ll be happy to do it. We had chole bhature, aloo paratha, pani puri, and paneer makhni. The chutneys and achar were fresh too. It was sooooo good. I felt like at home eating. The portions were good size. Lastly, you cannot leave the place without chai. The chai is a must! The husband and wife owners are very welcoming and humble. Good people and great energy! We will definitely come back!

I usually get goat curry during the buffet and it is always really good. With the perfect spice sauce and gravy to meat ratio.but I got a la carte today and I couldn't be more disappointed. There was exactly 3 pieces of bone and the gravy was simply water filled to the top of the container. The spices weren't really well cooked and it was bubbling up.Really really dissatisfied and disappointed!Funny how they said they had a food promotion going. 3 pieces!! I feel like I have been ripped off :(

This by far the worst Indian food I’ve ever had! The food was old and had been sitting on that steam table for hours the way it looked. The chicken in both my dishes were dry and the rice was off tasting. Needless to say after two bites my food went in the trash.

Would leave zero starts if I could. DONT GO HERE. They skimp with the meat and provide HORRIBLE customer service. I picked up a combination plate of butter chicken and tika massala and I what I received was a plate full of rice and sauce and three small pieces of chicken. I live down the street so I called them to ask if this is standard to only receive 3 pieces and the rude older Indian lady cut me off mid sentence and blabbered incoherently and said she doesn't count the chicken and hung up. Ridiculous place and I'll never go back! AVOID AT ALL COSTS PEOPLE !
