Over priced, mediocre food & drink, was forced to tip $30 on bad customer service.

I recently had the pleasure of dining here for lunch with a colleague who possesses an adventurous palate. We selected the half crispy roast duck, a Cantonese-style preparation, which was executed to a high standard. Please note that this dish is served without scallions and Mandarin pancakes.

Additionally, we ordered the Hainanese chicken, and we were quite satisfied with this choice. It was accompanied by flavorful rice and various complementary elements. Remember, this is served cold...not steamy hot nor warm.

The egg and shrimp dish also proved to be very palatable, featuring a moist texture and succulent, plump shrimp.

The curry pork chop rice was another commendable selection. It was expertly fried, well-seasoned, and encased in a satisfyingly crunchy panko coating.
We ended up our meal with black gold lava bun. It was presented nicely. The custard somehow has grains texture in it. I was expecting it to be smooth and silky.

In contrast to the bold spices characteristic of Sichuan cuisine or the richer oils prevalent in Northern Chinese dishes, Cantonese culinary traditions emphasize subtle seasonings such as ginger, scallions, soy sauce, and sugar, which are employed to enhance rather than dominate the primary ingredients.

Our first time here!!! WOW!!! First of all the quality and deliciousness of the food are only eclipsed by the service. Our server was Li Mei and she was just wonderful, professional and knowledgeable!!!

This is a hidden little gem, if you like Cantonese food, excellent service and a true cafe atmosphere, come here to Mom Cafe and truly enjoy yourself!!!

I dined in on a Saturday evening, no wait (we definitely beat the rush)! Waiter sat us down and we enjoyed a refreshing iced tea (so tasty)! I wanted to try EVERYTHING but decided on ordering the tastiest pork rice, delicious noodles, and a most flavorful dumpling soup (8 dumplings). They’re packed w flavor and that broth was absolutely exceptional and fresh! I also ordered the Xiao Long Bao and it was steamy deliciousness without the 2-3 hour wait hype. All tables were occupied and they became extremely busy but my drink remained full and our waiter was attentive and polite answering all of my menu questions. I appreciate cleanliness and great food! This place has both! This is definitely my new fave spot! ❤️

The service was terrible, and they even forced us to give a very high tip. One of the waitresses completely ignored us when we tried to get her attention to ask for more water. Overall, the food was mediocre, and it took a long time for the dishes to arrive. The service was truly awful. If you're really considering eating here, please think twice! My advice is to reconsider because the service is truly terrible, practically non-existent, and yet they still demand a tip. We ended up giving an 18% tip. It was absolutely not worth it.

Been here twice and it was great both times. We ate in and brought our daughters, 1 and 4 years old. The place is clean and inviting and the service is good. They were gracious about the chaos that two yound children bring to the dining experience. It filled up with other diners and people getting take out orders as our meal progessed which signals to me that the food here is well known for being good. Also it seems they are opening another location in the Clairemont Mesa area which is also an encouraging sign. The food is spectacular and everything on thr menu looks appetizing. The night of our second visit my wife had suggested trying a new place but I wanted to return to this reataurant to try more of their food. I was glad we did because everything tasted great. My only negative thing was the icedbtea I ordered was as sweet as candy and I didn't expect that; was expecting an unsweetened iced tea or something much less sugary than what I got, but I'll just remember that for next time. Glad that this location is close to where I live so we can return easily.

Today was my second visit, and the food was truly healthy, delicious, and very clean.
Today I had the Hainanese chicken and the seafood and tofu clay pot — both highly recommended!
The crispy duck I had on my first visit was also fantastic.
I accidentally left my credit card after paying, but the staff came all the way to the parking lot to return it to me.
They were so kind and I was really grateful. Thank you!!!

The seating was nice but nothing else. Paying 20 dollars for a Hainan chicken set. Just because I didn’t notice the chicken hair at first and ate it doesn’t mean I actually enjoyed the food. The young lady right away asked me if I speak Chinese. I said I don’t. Then I heard her saying that she offered me 3 pieces of chicken because I FOUND it? 🤮🤮🤮She asked me where do I find it first to validate first if I was lying. I didn’t say I picked the chicken hair out from the other pieces. Most of the restaurant would apologize right away and ask to replace. No she didn’t, she made sure I wasn’t lying and didn’t apologize. She went “it happens”. Imao. What kind of service is that?? And said she doesn’t want to talk to me to her manager/owner. Just because I said I don’t speak Chinese doesn’t mean I don’t understand. lol Worst customer experience ever. Don’t talk shit about your customer in a different language in front them. Extremely disrespectful. It’s discrimination. And yeah, check out the picture. I actually counted it mini 10+ hair to start with + not sure how much I ate in without paying attention. You don’t want to come here.

Service is real bad! I guess on this point this is an authentic Hongkong eatery.
The waiter took our plates while we were still working on the food just because they were about to close around 2:30pm. But it was not even 2:30pm. Respect your customers please!
