The Lucky Foot cocktail was worth stopping in for, but the food was only so-so

This is a cute little place inside the Hilton. I ordered a Wild Hare Salad to take back up to my room with me. The salad had way too much bitter greens (maybe arugala?) and the dressing was too tart. But the worst part was that they gave me a wooden fork to eat with. Have you ever tried to eat a salad with a wooden fork? I couldn't stab the lettuce, so I couldn't really eat it.

Came here as hotel guests to meet up with a longtime friend. They kept giving us the run around to seat us. It took them awhile to initially address us saying stuff along the lines of “We’ll be with you shortly”, “I’ll be back to talk to you” ?? Then finally they asked “for how many” but said it would be a 15 minute wait which we were ok with but we did see quite a few empty tables. They took a name and phone number for our party but their system wouldn’t let them do that and the computer was telling them to seat us… Probably because there were tables available and we were the only ones waiting to be seated? Service was slow. Food was overpriced. Overall a bad experience

I stayed at the Hilton Gaslamp a couple of months ago and was very impressed with the service I received at the Wild Hare Bar. Marissa’s kindness and professionalism made my stay there very enjoyable. After a long day of travel she was very accommodating. The drink I enjoy was not available but she made every effort to duplicate it. So much so that it will be my go to drink when I stay there. Her professional and courtesy made it easy for me to bypass eating out in the gas lamp area to eat at the hotel. I even frequent the Wild Hare Bar when I’m staying at other Hilton properties in the area. Wild Hare Bar Garden is my favorite place to for great service and great food. I have been on travel almost every week since I’ve been there but the memories of my experience there remain fresh in my mind.

Silverware had chunks of crusty old food stuck to it. There was a cockroach running around the bar area. Menus are humid and crumpled paper, maybe laminate them or print them out fresh every day. Overpriced food.
Melissa @ at the bar offered excellent customer service, she was the highlight out of the whole week I stayed there.

The food was edible and the service was fine. However, the restaurant charged a 4% junk fee on the bill. Though this nonsense surcharge was mentioned on the print menu I'd hardly call it transparent pricing for two reasons.
1) Surcharge is nowhere to be found on the online menu
2) The only reason to charge a surcharge instead of simply raising prices is because they think advertising a lower menu price will cause customers to spend more.
Overall I wouldn't recommend eating here unless you are staying at the adjoining Hilton and even then I'd recommend reducing any gratuity you intend to leave by 4% to combat rising restaurant surcharges.
I have eaten dinner here while staying at the hotel, most recently last evening.
Menu is rather limited and some quite unusual items. Food was just Ok, might have to try something else next time. Didn't get to try outside but the restaurant has no real atmosphere, the bar area is quite reasonable . Wine menu is good and everything is reasonable prices especially a downtown hotel. But service was excellent.

Extremely disappointed in the service, food prep, food quality and options. Came in for octopus....not available. Wanted the pork belly....not available. Ordered salmon and came out raw in the middle. They said it was medium but not at all. Had high hopes.
Very creative cocktails that were very good. Butterfly grilled Trout was delicious along with the day's special Salmon over mushrooms. To top it off the blueberry lime tiramisu was simply decadent. We'll definitely make Wild Hare Bar Garden our favorite restaurant for special events or any excuse we can conjure.

This has been my first stay at the Gaslamp Hotel and The Wild Hare - my experience has been PHENOMENAL! I’ve been served/waited on by the bartender, Kerem, and he was SO attentive. His recommendations, service and friendly demeanor would be hard to top. I highly recommend!!
