We love oltre mare! Whenever we visit San Diego, our son brings us to this wonderful
Restaurant. We love the new remodel: simple
And classy. The food is authentic Italian fare and every dish we’ve had has been memorable. The couple behind the restaurant are wonderful

Atmosphere is cool as it’s inside an old house but that’s about where the pros stop. I took my date there for valentines day and it was a terrible experience. the service was super delayed(not so bothered about this because my date was entertaining), and the food was so bad. The main meal(salmon) was so overcooked and dry, it was inedible. Usually you ask for the bill when you’re ready but before the meal was over the server dropped it on the table while we were eating and still had yet to be served the last part of our meal. To add on, the cost of the meal was nearly $200 for valentines special. Crap experience, wouldn’t recommend anyone go here.

We recently dine here with my wife and got beef carpaccio, mushroom pasta and wild boar pasta. Everything was insanely delicious! Highly recommend to go try yourself. Just don’t forget to bring your own booze.
We’re looking forward to go there again and try mushroom risotto!

Fun, kind, and quick service considering the busy atmosphere.
We came by without a reservation, but I would recommend one next time! With just two, they could make space. But for any more they likely couldn't have accommodated us.
Excellent food. BYOB.

Wonderful, friendly, and truly authentic Italian spot! We were visiting from out of town and were so warmly welcomed. The waitress/owner went out of her way to seat us without a reservation and was incredibly kind.
Delicious food, family-run feel, and multiple high chairs — one of the few places we would have felt comfortable bringing our twin toddlers. We wished we had found it sooner so we could go back again. Highly recommend!

The food is delicious but the service is very slow which is why I had to take off a couple of stars. I understand it's a family run business but it often felt like we were forgotten about. It took a long time before even taking our order. We had to ask for wine glasses multiple times, and eventually were given plastic cups because they were supposedly out of wine glasses. Although BYOB is a plus. But as stated earlier, the food was very good. The pizza was fresh and hot. yhe mussels were good. The tiramisu was amazing. They just need to hire more staff because they are apparently busier than they can manage.

Pizza was great. Staff was friendly. The cannoli were a bit stale. It looks like it was a house at one point, but because it's rather large, the space feels a bit empty.

As someone who grew up in an Italian family on the east coast - this is by far the best Italian food I have had in San Diego. We ordered three pastas and one pizza and every single thing was beyond good. The food is authentic and delicious. The owners are from Italy and are so sweet. I am so glad I finally found such a great Italian spot. I can’t wait to come back!

An unassuming place with delicious food.
We ordered the baked fish with potatoes and olives, well with the 45 minute preparation time. We also got the pasta with clams and a white sauce. Both delicious. Service was professional and timely.

Food is consistently good, but not worth it for the quality of service. The restaurant was a less than half full and it took 15 minutes for anyone to greet us or acknowledge us at the door. Once seated, no one spoke to us for 30 minutes and when they did they set water on our table and asked what we want without any greeting or explanation of the menu. We asked for bread and asked what the specials were and for a few minutes to decide. It took another 20 minutes to see our waitress again. We’d been at the table for at least 45 minutes at this point and still didn’t have bread. We ordered and received our entrees about 15 minutes later and still hadn’t received bread. We finally got bread after being at the restaurant for over an hour. Service was terrible and we were hardly ever acknowledged. The lack of service would have been understandable if it was busy but the restaurant was less than half full all night and never seemed to be in a rush.
