Palmys Cafe offers a relaxed and cute atmosphere, perfect for a morning coffee and pastry. The coffee shop is just a short walk from the beach, providing a cool breeze and a welcoming setting. The staff, led by Alvaro, is friendly and kind, creating great vibes throughout the establishment. The decor is awesome and relaxing, with plenty of outdoor seating on a wrap-around patio that offers cozy, semi-private spaces for guests to unwind. Inside, the cafe is set in a craftsman-style home with a beachy vibe, making it an inviting place for both relaxing and working.
The menu features tasty coffee choices, as well as delightful breakfast dishes. The breakfast burrito is a standout, with a generous portion that exceeds expectations. Other popular options include the chilaquiles, blue bowl with granola, fresh fruit, and honey, and the French Toast Bites, which are crispy outside and soft inside, topped with fresh berries, pastry cream, and maple syrup. The Surfers Breakfast is a pleasant surprise, with crispy tater tots, perfectly cooked eggs, roasted sweet peppers, and fresh avocado, all served with sourdough toast. The Avocado Toast is another highlight, topped with cherry tomatoes, cucumber, radish, pickled onions, microgreens, and a sprinkle of Tajín, creating a fresh and creamy flavor combination.
While the coffee may not have a super bold flavor, it gets the job done, and the drinks are prepared with care, as shown by the barista's friendly service. Prices can be a bit high, but the quality of the food and the inviting environment make it worthwhile. The French Toast Bites, described as a flavor bomb, are especially memorable.
Though parking can be a little tough with a 2-hour limit and restrictions between 8-10 a.m. on Thursdays, the overall experience at Palmys Cafe is worth the effort. It's a place that customers keep coming back to, whether for a quick coffee, a leisurely breakfast, or a cozy spot to work. Whether visitors are locals or just passing through, Palmys Cafe offers a pleasant experience with good food, drinks, and service.
