The vegan options here are plentiful and delicious. My favorite is the bahn mi, but the noodle salad is a close second.
They used to have a potato appetizer — best thing on the menu in my opinion. Really hoping they bring it back!

The food was quite frankly bland. I had the mojo pork and while it was close to being a bahn mi it was lacking. A friend had the Mac and cheese which was under seasoned and boring. Another friend got the burger with some fries that had the seasoning they failed to put on the Mac. Good selection of booze and fast service were the saving grace

We’ve visited a few times, and it’s the perfect place to grab a drink when exploring Balboa Park! We always order at the bar and head to the sculpture garden, where the atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing with great music.
Love the open-air venue. Had a lovely soup and salad, and my husband had the haricot steak. He said it needed a sauce as it was a little dry. Great music playing, and ambiance.

Came up to the park for the museums and got hungry. Expected typical high priced tourist trap food. I was very pleasantly surprised. Great selection of beers and one of the best tuna melts I have had that I didn’t cook myself. Also, have the curry fries. Really tasty. Just eat them first. The flavor profile changes a bit as the curry sauce cools off. I am typing this while at the bar and the person next to me also just expressed her surprise at how good and healthy the food was. They have an order at the front and then take a number set up, but I cheated and sat at the bar. Server was great and friendly. Eat lunch here seriously!

I went there for dinner after a long day walking in Balboa park. I had the pulled pork sandwich with salad and it was very yummy. Also the portion was huge. Very recommended of you are in the area.

Panama 66 is the best spot in Balboa Park for a quick lunch or a drink. It's a line up, order at the register place, but the food is reliably good and the staff are friendly and helpful. Varied menu (including banh mi sandwiches) so there should be something for everyone. Outdoor seating, with a lovely lawn behind it, and often good music (mainly jazz).
Each time we eat here, we are more convinced about how much we love the place. The food was excellent. The brisket plate was served with wonderful baby vegetables and exotic potatoes. Generous portions. Excellent value. Order up front, and your meal is served at your table. Nice friendly service. The tomato soup was delicious. Generous wine pours. Very fun location right in the center of the park, with music at night.
