This is my go-to pasta spot in San Diego. I’d come every day if I could. The food’s excellent, prices are solid, portions are big, and the service is always amazing.

After trying pasta at countless places and being let down by bland sauces, Pastalini was a revelation. I had the spaghetti w/meat sauce, garlic, parmesan, and mozzarella; simple yet executed with precision. The sauce balances acidity and sweetness perfectly, and the ingredients meld into a cohesive, flavorful whole. Proof that careful technique and quality ingredients can turn fast-casual pasta into something exceptional. Wish I had known about Pastalini sooner.

Tucked away in a modest strip mall, Pastalini might be easy to overlook — but trust me, you don’t want to miss this hidden gem!
The pasta bar concept is brilliant! Choose your favorite noodles, sauce, protein, and toppings to create a customized meal exactly the way you like it. With so many combinations, you could visit over and over and never have the same dish twice!
My latest creation was tortellini with sun-dried tomato sauce and chicken. It was bursting with flavor and absolutely satisfying. Even the small size was a generous portion and came with a side of warm garlic bread.
The menu truly has something for everyone, whether you’re craving comfort food, something light, or just looking to get creative with your meal. Pastalini is a must-try for pasta lovers!

Our family really enjoys dining at Pastalini. The food is always fresh, tasty, and the place is very clean. Prices are fair, it’s family-friendly, and the service is consistently kind and efficient. We always have a great experience here — highly recommended!
It smells really good as walking in, but the food isn't so tasty and the meatballs were pink inside, groundbeef pink, no go. 😞
The downside is that people grab pasta and all the food from the bar with their hands, wearing gloves, but with the hands like we don't have utensils in this time of year, 2025! it's nasty 😒. People speak with their mouth on top of the salad bar that stays uncovered, don't wear a hair net to cover the entire hair and a potential arm hair falls in the food, I can't imagine during cough/cold season.
Looks clean at sight, but little things makes you see that they don't care to ensure is clean or a dna into your plate.
The attend was nice, but what would really brings me back, the cleaning checks ✔️ and tasty food.

Not a lot of atmosphere, but that’s not why you come here. The food was delicious. Halfway between Subway and Pieology, ha ha ha. Good food and friendly staff, good value for the money. What more could you want?

My favorite pasta place in SD. I've been going here for years, and try to come at least once a week (would be every day if I could). Food is excellent, prices are great, portions are big, and service is phenomenal. I will remain a loyal customer for life.

An unexpected find. It seems that “red sauce” Italian places are not big here. There is one on every block on the east coast. After pursuing Italian in La Jolla and fining no parking we wound up here. It is unique and delicious. See the menu but aside from pizza, calzones, and salads you pick your pasta, your sauce, and your toppings. It is all combined in a stainless steel bowl, and then sautéed in front of you. I had potato gnocchi with shrimp and veggies, one (vegan) companion had pesto on spaghetti, and the third an order of meatballs. We did not get garlic knots included as others have said they had. The dishes were hot, tasty, well cooked and the “make your own” was unique and helpful. This would be a do again sometime. The staff was also great and accommodating.

Great service and great food. They were very helpful on our first visit. Being very friendly and welcoming. My wife had a small birthday dinner there and the people working there wished her a happy birthday and were very helpful and thoughtful throughout the whole visit. Great food and service will definitely go again.

It's a local place in a strip mall. You can certainly dine in casually if you like. There is a small bar area with some beers on tap as well.
