Phở Fifth Avenue offers a mixed dining experience. While the vegetarian and beef broths are praised, the pho can sometimes lack consistency in ingredients. The grilled chicken banh mi and duk biet (rare beef, tendons, rice noodles) are delicious, though the banh mi could be more substantial. The restaurant also serves a variety of dishes, including a surprisingly large vermicelli bowl with grilled chicken and pork that was well-seasoned and generously portioned. The crusty baguette for the banh mi is excellent, topped with tangy pickled veggies and slightly sweet BBQ pork. Shrimp pasta spring rolls with fish sauce and a strong, perfect iced Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk are also highlights. The overall service is good, with friendly and welcoming staff, and the open setting with cushioned chairs, Vietnamese decor, and chill music creates a pleasant atmosphere, though some may find it less comfortable at times.
