It would have been a 5-star rating if they didn't try the deceptive billing. Here's what happened:
We had lunch there on Wednesday 8/5. My wife paid at the cashier after we finished. She said she chose the 15% tip option on the $97 bill (no itemization), which ended up $112 total.
The $97 pre-tip amount seems not right to me so that I asked the cashier for an itemized bill. And it turned out that they already pre-charged a 18% tips that brought the total to $97 and tricked my wife to pay an additional 15% ($15) tip!
Had I not double-checked, they would easily get away with it!
When I pointed it out, the cashier immediately crossed out the bill with the additional tip and said they would only charge $97.
I'm 1000% sure that this is not the first time they do this. I'm not sure that how many times they managed to get away with it though.
But I want to share my experience so that people can keep their eyes open when dining at this place.

I really miss this place. My wife and I were regulars here for years. As soon as we walked in I would hear “2 soup 2 sandwiches?” Best Pho and would always recommend this place.

Recommended dishes: Bahn MI, Beef Pho

This is the best pho place in San Diego. Hands-down. You don’t need to add any ingredients to the Pho because its taste is amazing, handcrafted and so authentic. Also the ba mahn and other items our favorite, including all the appetizers. Thank you PPL&G for your culture and authenticity!!

I’ve been coming here for YEARS and this place is #1 Vietnamese restaurant in San Diego for me. Fast service and the servers remember your favorite orders rather quickly if you come here even somewhat regularly. Quality of all their menu items are delish.

This is my favorite Pho spot in all of San Diego. I always get the PT DAC BIET XE LUA and it never disappoints! The staff is always friendly. Highly recommend for great food.

“Still My Go-To Pho Spot — Consistently Amazing!”

This place never misses. I’ve been coming here for over a year now(close to my work), and every time I sit down with a bowl of their pho, I remember exactly why I keep coming back.

The broth is what keeps me loyal—deep, flavorful and clean. It’s comforting, rich without being greasy, and always served piping hot (the way pho should be!). I usually go for the #1 PT Dac Biet Xe Lia, and the meat is always tender and generously portioned. I’ve also tried their Pho Ga Tom Yum Chua Cay (nice spicy kick), Pho Ga Di Bo (super clean broth) and their Vermicelli bowls (fresh & light)…all the dishes are good.

The consistency is what impresses me most. Whether it’s a quiet Tuesday afternoon or a packed Friday lunch, the food quality is always top-tier.

The staff remembers me now, which makes the experience even more welcoming. They’re fast, friendly, and efficient, even during the busiest hours.

If you’re new here, you’re in for a treat. If you’re a regular like me, you already know the magic. Not only the best spot in Point Loma, but one of the best in San Diego.

Came in with a party of 5 and were seated immediately. Our food was ordered and delivered in record time, which we really appreciated. The place has the feel of an Asian diner, quick, efficient, and no-frills, which is perfect if you're looking for a fast, satisfying meal. No complaints with the food; everything was good. A solid spot for a quick bite!

This is a family owned business where they are so happy to have your business. They seat you quickly and take your order as quickly or slowly as you like. The menu is fun and varied. You can eat here several times a week and not get bored.
