We’re not from the San Diego area. We ordered take out and didn’t receive silverware. How were we suppose to eat the pho and fried rice we took Togo? I get there’s a California law, but other locations offer silverware without us asking. Also they could say, you heading home or to a hotel room? Do you have silverware there? Eating pho noodles with your hands burn. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Fantastic Vietnamese food and definitely one of the best in San Diego! Their rice paper wraps are delicious specialty of theirs. The meat options are tender and flavorful. The vegetables in particular are very fresh and crisp and really make the wraps that much better.
Their pho is also pretty good although not the best. The broth is quite falvorful and short rib is a nice addition to pho. We also tried their Vietnamese crepe which was very interesting, huge, and tasted great.
Note that they are cash only, and also are a very typical authentic Asian restaurant, in that don't expect Michelin star service.

Phuong Trang came through in a big way for our wedding dress rehearsal dinner! My sister (a San Diego local) highly recommended them and their party trays were super affordable.. it was a no-brainer!
While party trays can't be ordered online, getting in touch by phone was seamless. I originally called a month before my pickup date, and was informed super politely I didn't need to place the order so far in advance, as the week-of would be sufficient. When I called 3 days before our event, they handled my order as instructed, and since it was considered a large order (≈ $650), I needed to put down a $50 deposit on Venmo that was applied to the final bill... super reasonable!
Pickup was perfect: order ready on time and expertly packed (e.g., wings tray was covered 3/4 in foil so it would stay crispy when it arrived at the destination) and the friendly staff helped load our 6 trays into the car.
The dishes were each tasty in the best way! The garlic wings (both butter and honey glazed) were standouts.. I caught my bridesmaids snacking on them the next morning in between their hair & makeup sessions. Even my Mom, who is famously stingy with food compliments, was impressed by the meat & seafood fried rice! The fried salted shrimp and spring rolls were solid too. My sister mentioned that one of their signature dishes is the egg roll (bc wrapped and fried in rice paper), so we will definitely be back to try those ourselves.
While we originally ordered for 30 guests, we easily fed double that party size, with leftovers for the next week... not a bad value for $650! Highly recommend Phuong Trang for catering or dining!

This place really fell off in the last few years. I'm not sure if it's because I was here for lunch or what. They used to win best Vietnamese restaurant in SD year after year but now everything is in plastic cups and they can't figure out how to put condiments on the table except in packets? Feels like someone in charge went nuts during covid and never snapped out of it. The food was bland as well. Anyway, sad that my favorite spot fell so far, but won't be returning.

This place is always packed—be prepared to wait for a table! For groups of five or more, an automatic 18% gratuity is added. They used to be cash-only for a while, but now they accept cards, which is convenient. The staff are all Vietnamese, and the food is incredibly authentic—full of bold, fresh flavors. That said, service can be hit or miss; don’t expect much warmth or attentiveness, but the dishes make up for it. A solid spot for no-frills, traditional Vietnamese cuisine!

We love this place! The food is always delicious, they're accommodating for special requests (like removing certain items), and the wait is never too crazy. Very popular with the local asian community, which also says something about the quality of the dishes! The only downside is that it's so popular that it's sometimes hard to find parking.

Food was really good (we ordered Bun Bo Hue and Mi Xa Xiu). We came there around noon and the place was packed, maybe that was the reason why it took quiet long for our food fo come out.

Don't drive here. As soon as I pulled in and parked, a man in uniform immediately came up to me and aggressively told me I should leave unless I'm here for Mango or Phuong Trang. Excuse me? I don't see any signs saying the parking is only for those two businesses. Was gonna check out both places but I was so grossed out by whatever that was and drove away immediately. I don't know what the deal is but that's unacceptable rudeness. I will never come back to this shopping square.
