Food was really good. Customer service excellent. The ambiance was good, old school vibe but all in all good. Really liked that it is dog friendly. Will visit again.

My favorite thing to do on Sunday morning is get up and go to a dance class and then eat all the calories (and more) back at Point Break. This is a classic spot on the way to Shelter Island and when you step inside you just know you're going to have a top notch diner brunch. Decor is old school. Music is modern. Servers are the best in the land. There is an outdoor patio if you prefer sunshine to wood panel vibes. Dogs are welcome here too which I think just makes it even more perfect. Portions are huge and delicious. Don't forget to order a pancake for the table!

Great service! Fast service! Simple quality food. Home cooking. Nice pub atmosphere. Tried the breakfast and lunch. Nothing former, simple and good.

Tried this place while I was staying in shelter island over the weekend! First of all, nobody really approaches you its open seating, the service is quite delayed and slow. But the food is actually pretty good I must say! The coffee sucks, it had a weird taste. I ordered the cinnamon and vanilla french toast but it tasted like regular French toast but the prices are quite cheap. And I tried the California omelette that was pretty good. Its a good breakfast spot if your looking for a cheaper option. The inside is kinda dark with Christmas lights and stuff, a bit odd. Might come back for the food.

Was looking for a cozy, sit-down breakfast spot and found this cafe near shelter island. We were accommodated for right away and the service throughout our meal was nice and efficient. Wasn't too impressed with the food, but it did the job!

So far my experience from here was pretty good so far and yet one of my favorite Ocean Themed Diner that ever existed in San Diego. Their food was so good, it gave me a very good excuse to skip Lunch after a big Breakfast. The Service here was very kind and A very good sports channel here. I gave it a 10/10.

We were happily surprised with our breakfast and experience at Point Break. The waitress was fantastic - complete professional. Our food was fabulous and all on our waitresses recommendations. As we were leaving, we asked if we could possibly take my husband's Diet Coke and she offered to get us a to go cup for both his soda and my coffee. Rare service and will be back.

I've been here a few times and while I like the food and the atmosphere for the most part, I recently had two very disappointing experiences. A few days ago we were greeted with a bad attitude by this young lady who seemed off to my friends and I. At first I thought maybe we asked for too much but she maintained a bad attitude the entire time. We over heard her speaking to others with the same bad attitude. Then upon our return visit we had a wonderful experience with another server, Lindsey! She was a blast. Very attentive and full of fun facts, and very kind-- as you expect a normal server to be. However, a few bites in a lady walks in and immediately starts to belittle our server for something. I believe this woman to be an owner or manager? I mean the manner in which she spoke to this girl was rude and completely unprofessional. It was such a turn off to my friends and I. And now I'm thinking that this place, while I like the food, has very unprofessional management and it reflects on their servers too (except the one we got that day, lindsey). Aside from food being bad, a big turn off from a place is how they serve their customers and treat their workers. And this place seems like it does not treat their workers well and it's disrupting to customers. Will not be going back.

Diners, dives, driveins...was written about places like this. Simple. Dark. Old school. Real. Yum.

We've been coming here for a long time. I'll start with my review of two stars has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FOOD OR SERVICE. We wanted to take my father to our favorite breakfast place on Sunday when he arrived in town. We arrived and it was the normal breakfast rush. Everyone was busy rushing around. Our server has served us many times before. She's the sweetest older woman, always very attentive and welcoming. Just before we were ready to order the manager came storming across the room and snapped loudly at our server demanding breakfast menus. Because the server didn't hear her she snapped rudely & loudly at her again and quickly snatched the menus and stormed away. It was noticed by EVERYONE in the room and it was by far the most unprofessional demonstration of power I had ever seen. When our server came to take our order she was visibly shaken and distraught. I felt embarrassed for her that she had been treated that way in front of the entire restaurant of people. The food as always was AMAZING, the service as always AMAZING. However the short dark haired manager who stood behind the bar slamming items around and disrespecting her other staff in front of customers WAS ABSOLUTELY ATROCIOUS!

We have been coming here for about 5+ years and have always enjoyed the food (Juan is amazing) and the service. We usually come for breakfast on the weekends but have also made it in for lunches and dinners. The staff is wonderful! Ellen, Jocelyn and Elena are usually the ones we see and they ALWAYS take great care of us. We always feel at home and enjoy a great meal. Their prices have gone up, but so has every other place. We had breakfast there today and for the first time were stressed out while eating. We went later than usual and sat near the kitchen. The place was busy and all of the servers were trying to keep up with all of the people and were doing a great job. They have to take orders, make drinks (there is no bartender and a lot of the drinks were mixed or bloody marys) deliver the food, help clearing tables and their side work. While we were there I never saw any of them resting or slacking off. They were ALWAYS hustling. There was a manager type that was "expediting" and seemed more on a power trip thank helping anyone. She was demeaning to the staff and everyone seemed on edge when she showed up. As we were close to the kitchen, we kept hearing her berate the servers and at times the chef. I'm not sure what her role is, but it sure seemed as though she is on a power trip. When the food was up she would have rather it sit there than help get it brought out, and then would blame the staff who were outside tending to customers. It's unfortunate that at times people placed in control of others failed to realize gaining the respect of those around you empowers far more than berating and attacking. A lesson this individual needs to learn. While one of a managers main responsibilities is to orchestrate a team effort to keep things going smoothly, when a manager creates an atmosphere with animosity this cannot be achieved. We witnessed this today. We hope in all sincerity a glitch in the system and not an indicator of things to come. We got out to eat at least 5 times a week so we have seen a lot of restaurants thrive and some fail because of the treatment of their staff.

This place is a hidden gem that serves gourmet food for dinner prices. The chef makes everything from scratch and it is truly delicious. Our server Ellen was wonderful and gave us great advice on what to order. Don't miss this place if you are in the San Diego area. We had fried artichoke hearts, the house omelet and crab Benedict. Unbelievable!
