Service is poor, staff is not knowledgeable. The menu prices that are provided in store do not reflect what they actually charge. Staff also do not tell customers that their prices are different from what is on their menu. When I noticed the up charge I asked them why they were charging additional fees and they stated that the menu was old. That they told the owners to update the menu but they hadn’t updated it yet. Staff are like deer in headlights when you question prices.

Such a nice place to sit and have a morning coffee, with a view of the harbor!
The chive biscuit sandwich is top notch 💯
And the Tonka Bean latte - so yummy, never had tonka bean before!

Went with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised by how great everything was.
Bagel breakfast sammich was exactly what I hoped for, bagel was a little hard but that is really my only complaint. I like bitter coffee and drip coffee was fresh and hit the spot. Got a little loud because of the rush. Overall great spot to sit and relax, great option for your morning breakfast, and for coffee.

The coffee is OK but the price and the pitch is good Italian coffee which it is not. Feels more chain than indie, staff lovely but it just a bit average for the price.

Visiting from the PNW and we're not supposed to like anything from California 🤣 but I have no choice in the matter, the coffee was excellent. I didn't order good, but the baked goods looked fantastic and they are all made in house apparently. Lovely service and a nice outdoor seating area.

I don’t usually leave bad reviews on account of service. But today I stood there waiting to order while three girls were sitting or standing behind the counter watching one girl making another order. Took about 5 minutes to be acknowledged, then the girl who had just made another order came to take my order, while the other three just stood there chatting. While waiting for the poor girl doing all the work to make my coffee another person came in and the same thing happened. So my drink was only made after the second order was taken.
It was wild to watch and I felt ignored and unvalued. The coffee was fine but at this point I didn’t really want it.

The Cheddar Chives Biscuit is a must-try, makes a tasty breakfast as well. The pastry chef is a mastermind behind all the bakery selections. Will definitely come back often!

Solid coffee shop (love the staff!) with some annoying operational issues. I’m a huge fan of their orange cardamom latte but sometimes run out of the necessary syrup to make it for long periods. I hope they get that supply chain issue down!

Also, Portal should simply remove food from its online ordering system as you can never order items online - why list them if they’re always listed out of stock on the site? I get that pastry availability changes day to day, but it would be a better customer experience to simply remove food from online ordering OR actually let customers order ahead based on what they’re getting that morning. The one I really want them to enable ordering online for is their breakfast sandwich. That seems to be the one thing that is consistent food-wise so I really hope they take this to heart and offer the sandwich for online order.

Keep serving great coffee!

Good coffee and chai. We had the iced caramel latte and the iced chai, both were great. Is it expensive? Are we in San Diego? Obviously if you're looking for cheap coffee, don't look for it in southern California.

We loved the outdoor seating and the general vibe was great. Came back several times over the course of our vacation.

Barista was rude with a nasty attitude. Don’t order anything lavender tastes like essential oils were used. The rude barista ruined the atmosphere.

I’m tired of being harassed every time I come to this place. It’s the looks people give me. As if I have to give them a reason to take me seriously. I can’t order a freaking sandwich without some trying to give me a subtle lesson in language arts. If I say I want a “sausage biscuit” don’t ask me “a breakfast sandwich”. It’s 10am. Clearly they know what I’m talking about. Why is my sandwich exposed instead of the packaging being folded close the way it’s supposed to? Essentially the food is delicious, the staff are gross. And, yes, I mean the entire staff! And even some of the customers! Thank you for your time.

Music was a little too loud, coffee was good. Outdoor seating was ample, I don’t think it’s a good spot to work remotely.
