Giving this restaurant anything but 5 stars all- around is wild. Quixote exceeding my and my wife’s expectations by miles!

The vibe in the restaurant was top notch, felt trendy but not pretentious. Very laid back. We had to wait a little for our table as the restaurant was very busy, we sat at the bar in the meantime. Service at the bar was very timely and the bar staff were very friendly! I got the Vernita Green - absolutely delicious! A generous pour but not overbearing.

Once seated, we ending up getting six different dishes. Everything was shareable. To say the food was delicious would be the understatement of a lifetime. The memelita was our favorite. So juicy, so much flavor! I recommend the shrimp tacos, the memelita, and the pulpo (a delectably interesting version IMO). To top it off we had the fritters for dessert - and let me tell you… AMAZING!

Going to this restaurant is a must! So glad we went and will 10000000% be back for our favorites and to try more!

The atmosphere was great, the service was great too. It's just very limited on menu options. I wanted a non alcoholic drink, and the waitress said I could walk down to the other restaurant. What? Other than that, it's extremely dark, and then your eyes adjust. Experience it once. That's all you need.

Good food and creative atmosphere if you are seated in the main room. Be prepared for a dark loud cool place.
I'd say go for the experience more than the food

love the low lighting and the atmosphere but the music selection was abysmal for this specific ambiance.
the tapas were good sized and tasty we got 3 dishes and for two people it was enough to share.
the fondue had way too many onions though and kindof ruined the dish. would reccommend the crab corn doughnut!
very limited non alcoholic menu and no coffee drinks/anything hot at all. beautiful establishment, no question, but little things keeping it from its potential to be amazing.

great service.

Beautiful restaurant! It's a vibe! Sarah our server was spectacular! Went above and beyond to make sure we had a lovely time celebrating our anniversary ❤️ Will absolutely be back soon!

Kid-friendliness: Wish it wasn't. Crying kid put a tiny damper on our evening. Won't mark a star off for it but seriously... would be a better experience if it was 21 and up.

Took wife here for 9 year anniversary. Excellent drinks and food.
Only improvement would be having grilled chicken tacos instead of overly battered ones.

What a dining experience! Food was excellent, the atmosphere was incredibly unique and special. I even drempt about my drink! A little too dark, bring a headlamp to see the menu, especially if you're old like me ?

It’s always frustrating when a restaurant is incapable of coursing a meal. When you’re spending $20-30 a dish, you expect to be able to sit and enjoy yourself. Instead at Quixote, a waiter literally stood by the table with every single dish we’d ordered and attempted to shove them all onto our small table. As mentioned in many reviews, the filtered tap water was served lukewarm without ice and throughout the course of my meal, my glass sat empty for 3/4 of our less than an hour in the restaurant. Our waitress was nice but extremely inattentive. Wouldn’t recommend as the food was also “meh”.

A fun place for really great mezcal cocktails (even for people who may not consider themselves a fan of the spirit)

The ambiance is unparalleled, in alignment with the ornate and lavish style of the rest of the Lafayette hotel.

The food was great, the only wow factor for me personally was the donut, that is a must try if you come here. Aside from that we got the steak, queso, and stuffed avocado, which were all ‘good’ but not standouts. The mezcal old fashioned was also a standout.

Our server was fantastic, I wish I had gotten his name. He explained the menu beautifully and executed an extremely high level of service.

Had a lovely dinner date. Love the ambiance and setting. Our waitress Sara, was so helpful, friendly and attentive. We started with cocktails. Fernando's way was creamy yummy and vernita green was refreshing. For supper we tried the squash blossom, shrimp tacos, memelita, and oaxacan - they were all super delicious. The flan was especially outstanding!! It's a bit loud, but it didn't bother us much. Totally recommend ??????

While the environment is visually unique for a restaurant, I would suggest visiting a church if the design is what you're interested in and exploring other restaurants in San Diego with better service!! Our reservation was at 10:45 pm, and the restaurant closes at midnight. From the moment we walked in, all the staff seemed annoyed, as if they were eager to close and unhappy with our arrival—especially the hostess, a woman with tattoos, who was extremely rude and unpleasant. Our server was friendly at first, but she only took our order and didn't check on us for a long time. When she finally returned, we asked for two more drinks, and she came back saying, “I didn't realize the time, and the bar is now closed.” This was frustrating since we ordered the drinks before midnight. Additionally, you couldn't use the restroom cause it was clogged. Overall, it was not a pleasant or enjoyable experience.

The drinks (like margaritas) come in a glass with the bottom of the glass as thick as 1/3 of the total height of the glass and a huge ice cube inside so you get about 3-4 oz. of the actual drink in what at first looks like a normal looking glass. Costs $16. The food is ok at best - can get better food at most mexican places. The menu is one page - very limited selection. The service is fast and ok but nothing outstanding. The place is pitch black dark with real candles and oil lamps - I guess that makes it trendy and a bit unique but it's super loud. The tables are tiny - like a street bistro or a coffee shop tiny. Free (after 6pm) or metered parking is a disaster - allow 20 minutes to find a spot on the street or $20+ for a valet. The place was hyped up to me by someone I know and I was looking forward to going but ended up far from impressed. Not sure why some people think it's awesome.

5 star for food and drink were excellent. But the service was a little bumpy from the moment arrived and hardly got much better, maybe would maybe wouldn't go back because of

The crab donut is amazing! The Oaxacan Fondue is also delicious, but I wish there was the option of flour tortillas. The apps are small, so I could only see sharing the fondue. It’s also really loud in there, so be prepared to be yelling at your table mates.
