The only thing I’ll miss out about living downtown is this amazing little spot. Their drinks, pastries and service are always spot on.

This is the best matcha I’ve had outside of Japan. Better than any of the shops in NY. The strawberry matcha latte is not very sweet and better than Boba

The strawberry matcha was so good. The wait was a little long but not too bad. only reason i am leaving 3 stars is because their cups are ridiculously small. They are literally the size of water cups at most establishments i was so disappointed especially considering i paid 7.50 for one drink. :(

This place is seriously overrated. I was excited to try it based on all the hype, but it turned out to be a huge disappointment. First of all, the lines are ridiculously long, and after waiting forever, I expected something amazing. Instead, the coffee was mediocre at best—nothing special, definitely not worth the wait. There are so many better options in town with better coffee, quicker service, and no insane lines. I won’t be coming back.

Really cool cafe with great coffee, snacks and merch. The line out the door is a feature, make it part of the experience.

The atmosphere is good, the food is decent. The quality of service is nice, but they need to move 2-3x as fast with a line of 20 people out the door!!! Snail’s pace. We waited for 30 minutes. It’s not brunch. Not worth the wait, esp. considering the price.

I stopped by this cozy café on a Saturday morning in San Diego, feeling nostalgic about my trips to Kyoto and Tokyo, and ordered both the Kyoto Matcha Latte and the Strawberry Matcha Latte. The Kyoto Matcha Latte was a standout—it immediately took me back to sipping matcha in Kyoto. It had that same deep, umami bitterness that you only get with truly high-quality matcha. The only thing that could make it better would be a creamier milk, though the foam was perfectly done. It tops my previous favorite matcha latte in san diego which was previously done by PARU in La Jolla before they got their cafe section shut down ?.

The Strawberry Matcha Latte, while still good, didn’t quite match the intensity I was expecting. I anticipated the strong matcha flavor, but it seemed a bit subdued in comparison to the Kyoto Matcha Latte which was weird since shouldn’t it be the same?
still a solid 4.5/5.

The lines were long, but once inside, I couldn’t help but appreciate the café’s aesthetic. It felt like a blend of modern Japanese design with its clean lines and subtle elegance, perfect for a San Diego morning. I also enjoyed browsing through the design-oriented magazines, which added an extra touch of inspiration to my visit. Definitely worth the wait!

Probably one of the best coffee/pastry shops in San Diego. Been to Japan numerous times and this gives me that feeling of being in Kyoto again. I have tried both the espresso + milk and the matcha latte. Both were very good. The best thing I have had here was the black sesame morning bun. It is so decadent but not overly sweet. I have been here 3 times and will keep coming back. The price is also fair (for California standards).

Fantastic food and drink, don't recommend for studying or working. Staff is lovely and there is wifi, but only 3 small tables and a few box chairs.

The matcha yuzu drink was so good and the service was amazing! They were so kind and helpful when asked about the flavors! I would 100% come back! My favorite flavor is earl grey and the earl grey scone I tried did not disappoint (10/10)!

Rikka Fika is my go-to spot for a perfect afternoon pick-me-up. Their matcha latte is hands down the best I've had. Their pastries are so good, too. I mean, I love everything about Rikka! The staff is always warm and welcoming, and they’ve gotten to know us by name, which makes each visit even more special. I can't recommend this place enough!
