I make a point of coming here every time I'm in San Diego. While I wish the drinks were a bit cheaper, but I have a hard time saying they are not worth it. The drinks are just so creative and interesting. The bartenders are also very friendly.
Honestly, if this was in a bigger city this would probably be on the Top50 world list.

It’s a cool hidden bar spot, very dark and somewhat romantic inside. Space is very limited, make your online reservation. Drinks are good, but you’ll definitely need more than one to get a buzz, and it’s not cheap lol. This is a one time spot in my opinion, try it out.

Amy and Ben are SO great. It was super busy when we arrived. Amy had us wait upstairs but came to apologize and check on us which was so kind when she was so busy. They seated us within 10 minutes. Ben explained their cool drink concept and we got 2 of their signature drinks. Awesome, awesome night, cool bar and the BEST service. Thanks guys! ❤️

Room 56 has quickly become a go to spot for us. We absolutely love taking people here whether it's local friends or out of town visitors. The drinks are made perfectly and presentation is 10/10 every time. The staff is so welcoming and fun too!

Room 56 is anything but a ‘Speakeasy’. You take the flight of stairs and the section between elevator and level 1.

My friend and I were supposed to celebrate my birthday there yesterday. It was empty, with not a single person (not even servers). I don’t understand why they would have reservations! We checked in with the bounce, went up and waited for 7-8 minutes to order but the serves weren’t there AT ALL.

So we left. Today I woke up to a 40 dollar ‘appointment cancellation’ charge on my card. Just because your team asks for a card doesn’t mean you can charge it.

I would highly recommend not going there. It’s a waste of time and money. We went to False Idol then and it’s an actual speakeasy.

They not only false advised but also conducted fraudulent activities. Extremely disappointed with the service, ambience and unfairness.

It's a cool atmosphere. The servers were goodbut I think the vibe was a little off, but it's ok, I think they have what it takes. The food was good as well. The flavor was there the portions a little on the small side. But I would eat her again.

What's disturbing in this place and that you do not know what kind of people you will be sitting next to (high heeled woman with men in tuxedos or 21 years old in sneakers and shorts), the space is big compared to other hidden bars, but too noisy even if there's no music), drinks are very good (but please put less vegetable and greens over them, you want to drink not to eat a salad and wonder how are you goin to drink it) Barmen and hostess are very welcoming. So definitely it's a bar that you want to discover, but it doesn't mean that you will be waiting to go there again.

Came here for the speakeasy and it was so great. The servers were awesome as were the drinks. It's a 2-drink minimum and they add a 22% gratuity.

Room 56 is one of the best speakeasies I've visited - and I've been to a lot! The bookshelf entrance was so fun, and every cocktail was unique and perfectly crafted. I loved that the corresponding craft cocktail was included to indicate the flavor profile of the Room 56 version. The conversation starters on our table was a wonderful touch. Also, since it was a Wednesday night, the space was so calm and quiet. I'll be back the next time I'm in San Diego!

You get a text a few hours before your reservation stating a min. spend of 40 USD per person and an automatic gratuity of 22 %.That’s not how things work. We cancelled our reservation and will visit another place, where I choose the tip. Raise your prices and pay your staff properly, if you’re unable to do so at current levels.

Travel back in time, and style, to what must be probably the best cocktail bar in San Diego. This really should be on every ones list of places to visit when in the area. Staff are super fun and very knowledgeable.

These drinks are an experience... One of my top 3 places for drinks in San Diego. Just wish they had bread sticks or nuts or a tiny little snack to go with the drinks since I get drunk so fast. Prefect drinks for sipping with great company though and I take all my friends that visit me here
