I fish out of Seaforth so I have the pleasure of eating at RR on occasion. Used to get the CA burrito but had a barbacoa (smoked brisket) & a fish taco the other eve for $20. Twice the size of your typical street taco, the unique combos of fresh ingredients made for a most enjoyable meal. Your choice of red and/or green. Outdoor patio seating overlooking the sportfishing fleet. Worth it & then some.

We didn't really eat here. We had a few slushies (amazing) ask for a side of fireball to go with it. We also got chips and salsa very good chip with some chili type powder made it hella good and the salsa verde was on point not to spicy but a lil over mild. The churros were ????.

The food is so, so, good! I just returned from an all day fishing trip and was counting down the minutes to get landed and to the Royal Rooster. I got there a few minutes after their kitchen closed, but the manager was so kind and let me order my takeout.I literally dream about their crispy fish tacos w/escabeche slaw, queso fresco & fresh salsa. The food is a little different than your typical Mexican food. I consider it a little more gourmet-style with a little extra freshness and flavor. Everything I have tried has been delicious, but the crispy fish tacos are the best I’ve ever eaten. The only complaint I have is that they don’t have more locations and longer business hours so I have eat their food every week.?

I ordered the fish tacos and they were absolutely amazing. I made a few modifications to my order, and the chef and owner, Cory, was kind and accommodating. The fish was very fresh and prepared perfectly. It's a very nice place to relax and enjoy a meal.
Overall a mixed impression.? Positive Aspects: The patio with its chilled outdoor seating and umbrellas created a delightful atmosphere. The fish taco exceeded expectations with its crispy and flavorful fish filet, leaving a lasting impression.? Disappointments: Unfortunately, the tri-tip taco fell short as it was overly sour! Also the prices for the food were a bit on the higher side.

Went here last night because I had heard really good things. Brought a couple friends with me and they were really impressed as well. We didn't know what to get at first as they have a ton of options on the menu but Conor was very helpful at the register and recommended the Barbacoa burrito as well as the fish tacos. All were amazing and had great flavor profiles and his service was on point. He also recommended the slushy margaritas for drinks and those are my new favorite!!! All of that plus the view is prime. Definitely will be back soon!! Thanks Conor

The ONLY thing better than their location is the food and the service. Quality 100% on both. Happy to have found this place. Unique eats with amazing flavors. Nothing to change at all. Even stuff for the kiddos. The kids grilled cheese was perfect. Will be my go to spot when I'm the area.

Reflecting on the most excellent experience I’ve had eating tacos. They deserve max stars, whether it’s 5, 10, or 100/100. Great service, very impressionable behind the counter. Reminded me of several friends I have. Which leads me to the food itself, best tacos I’ve ever had. The tri tip was tender, the creamy zing of the sauce was other worldly. Had to go back for every flavor. Barbacoa, chicken, another tri tip. They were all amazing. Fantastic job to the kitchen staff and whoever builds the menu. Paired it with the house hazy ipa. Smoooth and refreshing. Maybe I was the perfect amount of hungry to think the way I do about this food but it’ll forever go down as the best tacos I’ve had. I’ll be back whenever I’m in the area and available.

Pretty decent food for fast casual joint. I got the burger and it was good, not great. Very messy, though that bothers me more than most others, but the lettuce was also soggy/wilty which is not a great texture. My friends got tacos which they all enjoyed. I'd go back if I was in the area but I'm not going out of my way for it.
My husband and I had lunch here after our whale watch tour! The barbacoa tacos and barbacoa fries were amazing! Everyone was so friendly and the food was delicious! Recommend this spot to everyone!
Omg! It is goodTacos are a bit priceyBut worth itWe had 2 fish tacos - fresh cod generous and well prepared1 barbacoa, so much love in that brisket, best I’ve had1 cauliflower taco which was great will do againCould do 1 taco eachBut you only live once
literal perfection of a restaurant that offers it all: amazing quality food, great friendly service, fast casual environment and awesome vibes on the peaceful waterfront. I am here for the second day in a row and it takes everything in me to avoid coming here multiple times a week, every week.Let's start with the food... the carne asada they serve up is actually filet mignon so as you can imagine the quality and tenderness is mouthwatering and better than most, if not all, taco shops. After focusing on tacos every visit I branched out and tried the carne asada Cali burrito yesterday and I've never had a California burrito this delicious! Super flavorful, no soggy mess/stayed in tact really well, crispness on the outside, perfect consistency and ratio on the inside with the fries, meat and sauces. It really is a work of burrito art!Fish, chicken and barbacoa tacos are all also delicious! No chewy or fake subpar meats used here. The tortillas are sturdy but thin and all the tacos are filling. They also offer bowls, burgers, fries, sandwiches and rotating specials like quessoritos and mahi crunch wraps to name a couple I've seen! You can't beat this super dog friendly environment right on the water - enjoy the beautiful bay views and active fishing tours/boats and take in San Diego's natural beauty. Perfect for locals and tourists to appreciate what the city has to offer. Also a great stop if you need good takeout for a beach day or boat trip. Now, if you have ever had a slush puppie in your life then you know how good they are and a childhood staple. Royal Rooster appeals to the adult in you by making slush puppie margaritas!!! They are strong and a great addition to your meal especially on a warm day. They also have a handful of beers on tap plus some canned craft brews too.Last but definitely not least the guys I've encountered working here are always super friendly and welcoming. They clearly love their menu and product and chatting with customers. They make it a great experience whether it's your first time or you're a regular. If I need a spot to take an out of town visitor to check all the boxes of great eats and San Diego's finest vibes, this is the first go-to on my list. One more thing - I loveeeee a place that lets your order lunch for breakfast. Huge win!
The service was slacking! I have worked in the restaurant business and know what good service looks like. The food was not what I was expecting for the price. I ordered the nachos $11 with the smoked brisket which was a $6 add on the total came out to $18 The brisket was excellent but the nachos were average made with yellow nacho cheese, not real cheese. Maybe it was locally sourced nacho cheese from the grocery store idk. the portion was small for what I paid. Definitely expect more from my money. Don’t bother responding to this review telling me that I’m a terrible human being and don’t know the restaurant business and I will not be back.
