I really appreciate how they’ve kept this location a classic. In the days of overexpansion, Rubio’s keeps it simple and classy. This is a great place to stop for a chopped chicken salad and there’s ample seating considering the size of the restaurant.
Please bring back the enchilades. I dont go there anymore
I like going there for taco Tuesday... 2 fish tacos especial for about $6... original Rubios location
So delicious!! Food was amazing!!
Very few Rubios left standing in San Diego. This particular one, theres maybe 5 parking spots total.
Outdoor seating only.
Easily can get crowded. Nice staff though esp when I did a catering order they helped bring it to my car
Great fish tacos, shrimp burrito

The food is not good, there is no flavor, the chiles stuffed with yellow cheese, who makes a chile stuffed with that cheese, or that it was Jack in the Box, if you are Mexican, don't go.

I called before going to ask if they warm up the tortillas. I’ve been to a couple of rubios and sometimes they don’t warm up the tortilla. The person I spoke to said they do warm the tortillas. I order two tacos and guess what, cold tortillas

This place sucks. Service is trash. Everyone is high and they don't give a shit. Acting like they're doing you a favor for working. Worst location. Can't believe this place stayed open.

It's a shame this chain has not succeeded in expansion when something generic and factory/assembly orientated like Chipotle has grown. Their food has always been consistent and delicious and my taco triple platter for lunch on my visit to this, the original location, was no different.
The white sauce was particularly good and the complimentary chips are always well made. While there was a lengthy line to order, and the set up here is less than ideal, this was a situation where the food was worth the wait. And the actual preparation time was reasonable.
Vegetarian options: This place might work for a pescatarian dining with meat eaters but it's not ideal
Dietary restrictions: They will prepare food to order, be specific when ordering (e.g. no cilantro, easy onions, etc.)
Parking: I was on foot since I was staying at a nearby hotel but the lot area appeared full at lunchtime.
Kid-friendliness: Like any other fast casual place, it's very kid friendly. There are no particular things for your kids to enjoy and be aware that beer is available so other parties may be drinking. If your children are not into spicy foods, you should be more mindful that they not get into the salsa bar and how shared food is prepared, etc. If your children do not like seafood there are probably better options.
Wheelchair accessibility: Reasonable but the ordering area will be crowded or tight. Best to grab a table for that person and bring them a menu to make the order for them.

It was free guac day but they wouldn’t give me guac. So I bought a fish taco for $5.
