Lived in San Diego for a couple of decades and Rubio's was fairly constant rotation when the mood struck us. Was in town recently and stopped by. My wife loves the premium shrimp tacos. I had a fish taco plate with 2 tacos and refried beans and chips. The tacos and beans were OK but not as good as I had about 10 days before when everything was delicious!
I will keep coming back because I really like this location, the food and the service there!
Parking: I love the fish taco Especial with black beans instead of the refried beans. The chips have been better than they were a few years ago. So yummy.
Parking lot right in front with lots of spaces! I always find a spot. I like and I can easily get out of.

On a quest to rank San Diego's California Burritos! Tenth stop: Rubio's Coastal Grill. Product: Burrito with crispy potatoes and marinated meat, though some pieces were dry and overcooked. I got chips with the burrito, which was a nice surprise. The wait was short, but the burrito was smaller than expected—I didn’t feel full. Plenty of sauce options. I paid $14, which is a bit higher than average. 7 out of 10 Service: Friendly staff, answered my questions with smiles. 8 out of 10 Atmosphere: Clean and stylish, but the vibe felt unclear. 7 out of 10

Innovation kitchen menu is definitely worth checking out. Playa Shrimp burrito has good smokey flavor. Tijuana Steak Street Fries have become a favorite for some of our family, ask for it without the Chili Arbol Sauce for a more mild version. Lots of new taco choices to check out plus the original fish taco typically round out our order. Menu does seem a bit shrimp heavy, but there are plenty of other protein options. As always the service is friendly and helpful.

This Rubios is great every time. It has been around for a long time and they have better food than pretty much all the other locations. The staff has always been extra friendly and helpful here. It's exceptionally clean, and it can accommodate large groups. Wonderful place to stop for lunch, and it's pretty affordable too.
