Finally made it to this place and was disappointed beyond belief. Ordered the 1A steak and eggs and it was, hands down, the worst steak I've ever been served. It was literally inedible. It was near impossible to cut, and for the few bites I could get, it was more chewy than gum. Will never come back here if they think that is any way acceptable. Server was also late after sitting down, and the only time we saw him was to take our order. We even had to flag him down just to get the check.

Calista is the best server in San Diego. She makes the experience at Rudfords feel as though I’ve been transported back to the 50’s….a time When People loved their jobs and their customers even more. I’d go back to Rudfords every day if I could. The burgers especially are amazing.

Awesome, old fashioned diner with legitimate local history. Wish their chicken fried steak was a little better, but it's not bad.Edit: since writing this review, I went in probably a year ago, was seated, and then... was ignored for so long, that we eventually just left. I doubt the server even noticed we ever left. Not cool, but I also know sh.. happens, so not changing my overall rating.Google should really allow the reviewer to respond to responses from the owner! But I'll do that here instead:I'm honestly not sure how to make your chicken fried steak better... BUT, what I can recommend is either going to the Julian Cafe or Descanso Junction (closer) and try theirs. Neither spot is super convenient, and I'm not trying to advertise a competitor, because they are nowhere near you guys... but I would LOVE to have another, more conveniently located spot where I could find a top shelf chicken fried steak. So, yeah... that's the best advice I can give. Go try them and see if you can pick up any good hints!

We stumbled upon this place by chance, but if we find ourselves in the area again, we'd gladly return.Rudford's exudes a charming local vibe, nestled in a historic part of the city with its retro diner aesthetic. The menu boasts a wide selection to cater to various tastes, and every dish we tried was bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. Our family savored the bacon, avocado, and cheese omelette, a croissant sandwich, and a cinnamon roll. The service was attentive, and everyone we encountered was incredibly friendly, enhancing the overall atmosphere.

This place offers the quintessential diner experience. It's my top choice for a midnight or early morning breakfast. I can't resist ordering the Mexican Benedict—it's simply the best! Megan consistently takes great care of us; her warm and friendly demeanor really enhances the neighborhood vibe. It's definitely one of my favorite dining spots!

I absolutely loved this place! I've been here for breakfast twice now, and the staff is incredibly friendly. The food is delicious diner fare, and the prices are fantastic. Plus, they offer specials on weekdays, and you definitely get plenty of food.

$8.95 was supposed to be the 3 eggs, 3 meats & pancakes but b cause she asked how many pancakes I wanted (2) she made everything "2." Let them know to adjust price accordingly.

Waited 20 minutes to give my order. It wasn't busy so I don't understand the wait.

This place is Hit or miss. Sometimes you order from them and you get the most delicious breakfast ever.Other times, like today not so much. I ordered today April 14th- the three egg scramble breakfast with cheese, hashbrowns and three sausage links. Take a look at the picture and how tiny those three eggs are. The cheese is in melted. And the hash Browns are undercooked. You can see that yourself. It came with an english muffin which wasn't toasted with no butter in the sausage was basically rare.
