Ashley helped us out on first trip here. Three of us pigged out for lunch. Good stuff. Bummer to hear will be closing soon. We will definitely return one more time next month.

This place is such a treat with a very inventive menu that I have never had sushi like this anywhere in the country! The owner is super friendly and quite an inspiration I might add! I heavily recommend you try this place out within the next two months as the place is closing in a couple months...you seriously won't regret it!

Recently came here again and the sushi was okay, wouldn't come again though. The quality of the sushi was just very different.

Highly recommend the sushi place! Ashlee and the whole team provide great service. They have an iPad for every table for you to order food, which makes it super quick and easy.

One of the absolute BEST sushi spots in San Diego. Rolls are always great, the fish is fresh, and the prices are right! They also have a ton of gluten free options!! The owner and chef, Ashley, always is reinventing the menu to create one of a kind rolls. Just go already!!

This place deserves ZERO stars. The owner of this restaurant clearly does NOT understand how the hospitality business works. Extremely rude, cheap, and aggressive towards CUSTOMERS. Every one star rated review on here is extremely accurate. I couldn't believe my eyes when I experienced it in real life. The owner, Ashley, makes the customers SERVE THEMSELVES. That's right -- you grab your own plates, napkins, utensils, sauces... then she expects a tip. This was just one issue. Next, the quality of fish is horrific. The temperature of the fish was warm (not room temperature or cool -- which are standards in Japanese cuisine) and tasted fishy. Warm and fishy tasting raw fish are a health hazard, folks. Fish that is old and has been sitting out becomes a harboring site for bacteria. Other customers saw flies in their food -- and Ashley refused to remake them a new one because flies on food are "acceptable" to her. Next, Ashley states she is understaffed. This is a something she repeats to every customer that walks through the door. Truth is she refuses to hire more than two employees because it costs money. Aside from repulsive customer service, the food is a biohazard. I can only imagine how bad the kitchen looks... If the owner is reading this, please re-evaluate how you treat your customers and invest some money into fresh fish. Health code violations are a serious matter. Jon Taffer from Bar Rescue would pass out if he saw this place.

From start to finish this was an exceptional dining experience. Great food, great atmosphere, and a great time.

Two employees working on a Friday and they are absolutely handling it. Ashley is a rockstar, answering phones, making sushi and literally doing everything else to keep this place going and doing it with a smile. Food service industry can be rough and unforgiving so take any negative reviews with a grain of salt, people are jerks! The foods delicious and well worth any wait. Some people just lack patience, empathy and perspective.

Ashley and her partner are the most hard working, accommodating duo around. My friend and I came in on a Friday night for a drink or two and were astounded by what the two of them could accomplish. Despite being understaffed we had incredible service and everything was delicious and prompt. Dont be afraid to come show this small business some community support!

Very disrespectful man. I get it. You're working; but please be kind and nice to others. Didn't appreciate the way he's been talking to me or my family when we wanted to come in. Not even worth the attitude

Sabuku is hands down my favorite sushi restaurant in San Diego. i have Ben there many times before and we went yesterday for my birthday. it's absolutely the best quality and taste ever in sushi . I ordered my favorite: the salmon skin salad, baked Salmon roll , and garlic ponzu edamame . you have to ask for these items sometimes because unfortunately the menu had to be reduced a little due to the pandemic . Ashley surprised us too with a special new creation. A heavenly mouth watering creation on a crispy wonton base with home made orange habanero sauce . It was so so so so yummy !!!!!!!!!! we highly recommend Sabuku !!!! I have tried many other sushi restaurants in San Diego but this place is a gem and the dressing on the salad , the portions and flavors definitely top any other place by far. I had the best birthday dinner last night !!! I attached a couple of pictures as well. Give Sabuku a try !!

This is one of those places that you can tell cook with so much love and care. One of the best sushi places I have ever been too. Ashley and Francisco treated me very nice and they cheered me up after having a long day. Will be back for sure!!

Lots to soak in.. they were terribly understaffed so it made our experience sour. Felt like I was in trouble and I don't work there. Food on the other hand was really good ? sun di ago roll is a must. Food is very large portions as well! :)I also left a $25 tip but got laughed at on my way out that I left a $5 tip so my last bit of excitement to end my first day in San diego was lost. But I'm just a small fish.

I don't live San Diego--far from it. I'm on the east coast. But since I'm a foodie, I watch the Food Network some and saw a show that featured this restaurant in it. The sushi rolls looked and sounded incredible, so I encouraged my husband to eat there when he had to go on business, which he did, and he had a great experience. So of course when my son and I were able to tag along with the hubs to San Diego a couple of weeks ago, we all went for dinner. The place is quite non-descript and parking is a bit of a hassle, but you WILL NOT regret coming here. Best sushi we've ever had--so delicious. I'm dreaming about the rolls right now. And the poke tuna nachos--OMG--fantastic. The rolls are huge, so remember that when ordering. At first we thought we over ordered but we managed to eat it all b/c it was so good. The owner, Ashley, is a hoot and made us feel right at home. Highly recommend.
