Great food and service. While living in #Scrippsranch I found this location near my local grocery shopping stop (Vons) and gave it a shot. Hands down great tasting traditional and authentic Japanese cuisine. Scott (owner) takes great pride in his food and service. Will be back when I visit San Diego. Overdue review after my 8th visit 🤣 5 Stars

Sai Japanese Bistro is an authentic Japanese bistro located in Scripps Ranch, a quaint sushi spot hidden within a strip mall. The atmosphere is nice and the restaurant is big, with a nice lounging area available to book for larger parties. The menu has lots of food items, with rolls separated by their primary fish, such as spicy tuna based or shrimp tempura based.
The food is absolutely amazing, delicious, and fresh. Favorites include any of the salmon sushi, the chirashi plate, the poke bowl, the Spicy Miso Ramen, and the crunchy roll. The tempura is crispy but tender, and the vegetable yakisoba, agedashi tofu, and miso soup are all tasty. The teriyaki chicken bento is a good deal, coming with vegetable tempura, a CA roll, rice, and a salad. Portions are on the smaller side.
Prices are right and good, offering great deals. The service is good, with attentive and friendly staff frequently checking in. Parking is easy. It is highly recommended as one of the best sushi places, a definite find for a return visit.
