Great Happy hour. Got there early, not many people there. Saint James Clams and the burger is a great deal. Both are very tasty! Historic hotel with lounge is an added plus

Great vibe, great food. Very small dining area, doesn't get too loud unless there's a loud group inside.

French Diner is our “go to” before the SD Symphony. Excellent quality; nice selection and great value. “Parisian” burger got rave reviews from my guest.

Small portions but the service was great. Our Server was very accommodating and Respectful

Beautiful restaurant. Food, ambience and service outstanding. Our server Justin and his manager could not have been more welcoming and attentive. Highly recommend this restaurant

Very limited menu and the beer selection is meager for being SD.

We came here for restaurant week 2025 so we only tried the items specifically.

We got the escargot, Caesar salad, mussels + frites, duck confit, and chocolate mousse dessert.

In terms of the apps, the escargot didn't really taste like anything and the caesar salad was very bitter (but I was told it was intentionally so). The mussels were really small.

Service was so-so and the restaurant wasn't too busy (Friday Night at 6 pm), but might be understaffed. We didn't get any check-ins or water refills (had to request it).

The duck confit was probably the best dish of the table, very tasty and full of flavor.

The dessert was OK nothing amazing, not too sweet and heavy chocolate flavor.

Both of us were underwhelmed by most of the flavors for the price point of what was served at restaurant week, but we hope to try out the other menu items if we come back!

I walked in to this beautiful clean establishment and sat at the bar. I was greeted by friendly staff and welcomed to the establishment. I ordered drinks, appetizers and entrees to include the croquet, burger, and steak frites. The steak, a filet was soooo tender and cooked perfectly and only $42?! What a steal. And the burger.....yall.....with fries for only $10?! I had such a nice evening and have spent much more for much less. Thank you for sharing this gem with me.

It was restaurant week, plus a convention of insurance salespeople in town, and it was not filled at 6 PM.
The Hostess was also our Server.
It took a long time to get drinks and food. It took 30 minutes for my husband to get a 2nd beer, so he canceled his beer. He had also finished his HAMBURGER before receiving his FF. It was just really slow service.
I enjoyed my crispy skin DUCK confit which was a leg & thigh, plus sliced duck breast. A nice fruity sauce was served with it. I think the fried doughy bread served as a side was a “miss”.
My CESEAR salad was good. It included endive and arugula, which is different, and I liked it!
CHOCOLATE MOUSSE finished the 3 course meal for Restaurant Week.
Cute diner, good food, but slow service with food coming out at different times.

Went here to explore the rooftop bar. Service was great however very limited selection. Most of the bar food options were sold out and didn't really have any mocktail options. They also don't have the dinner menu at the rooftop area.

We went back downstairs since we were hungry and the food was great!

Amazing in all categories. I happily spent 60 on myself (tip included) for a late dinner of beef bourignon and ratatouille with a bottle of soda. I wish I could bottle that gravy and save it for special occasions. The flavor and technique were brilliant.

When I asked what dessert I should order, the waitress immediately suggested the strawberry bread pudding.

I told her later that if I weren't married, I'd have kissed her pastry chef it was so wonderful.

Staff are attentive and helpful. Food is French so care is taken in prep so it can take a little while to arrive but it's worth the wait.

Arrived at 8.30 and they shut at 9. Food very good but staff rushed us as they obviously wanted to close as soon after 9 as possible which made us feel uneasy. Typical French restaurant as had the same in Paris a year prior. You need the custom or you don’t and I feel this place is sticking two fingers up at the normal eating habits of people.

Christian the Barman was excellent, personable, charming. And what I would call “a proper barman”. He was able to make classic ‘off menu’ cocktails on demand. Excellent conversationalist.
