Savio's is the best pizza in San Diego. I've been searching for exceptional and consistently made pizza for the past 2 years of living on the Westcoast. My bf is a CA native and has been showing me the reputable spots. It's hard to compare to New York or Boston pizza. The owner at Savio's takes his passion to pristine levels with everything his does in his place. He's organized, keeps his kitchen meticulously clean, and prepares all of his produce fresh daily. Going to Savio's is an experience every person or family should try...because he cares about his food and even more so...his customer's.

Cheese: perfect flavor, consistency and amount
Crust: thin enough that it's not overwhelming, but thick enough for all the structure you want. It's also got an airy, fluffy texture with an amazing crunch.
Sauce: I'm willing to bet that they make their own sauce, because it's really flavorful. No weak sauce here. Good tomatoes, good herbs, exactly what you want.

Stay away from this place; the people there are unpredictable and can be aggressive. They struggle to control their emotions and anger, and one individual seems particularly unbalanced.

I've been here 3 times, and every time I'm surprised by the absolute lack of respect the staff has for the customers. If you ask any questions, they tear into you. I'm not sure why I keep going back, since there are several other pizza places of same or higher quality in the area. This is just a light warning to anyone who's mildly curious about the toppings, or has dietary restrictions. Never going back.

Tried the the calzone. Was good but not impressed. The calzone was a bit on the salty side Really missed the calzone's at Mt Etna pizza.
