hungry after an event in the area, we got in n the front desk woman can't seem to smile or be welcoming. So many seats but placed us in a little table. I can overlook that if food is great. Nope. Calamari appetizer us bland rubbery n cooked in old oil. Its my sensitivity n I know when it's old. I immediately feel sick. My son's soup is ok but my pad Thai permeates with same old oil. Will not be back. For being Social Thai, the front desk n food is nothing social.

Such good Thai food! Best panang curry we have ever had, the drunken noodles were also really good. My son got the satay chicken, which came with a delicious and generous portion of peanut sauce and a cucumber salad. He’s a picky eater but he loved it. Highly recommend!

Delicious lunch at Social Thai in Ocean Beach! Just a few minutes’ walk from the beach. We loved the summer melon and Moscow mule cocktails. The pad see ew and Thai ka pow will leave you craving more. Beautiful indoor space and dog-friendly outdoor seating. Quick, friendly service. Highly recommend!

Never come here

We’ve been loyal customers of Thai Social for a long time and truly love this place. We live just down the street and often order takeout from the to-go area next door, which has always been an exceptional experience, friendly, quick, and consistently delicious food.

Unfortunately, our recent dine-in visit for my birthday was a letdown. The service felt very lackluster. Our server seemed disengaged and disinterested, which made the whole experience feel a bit uncomfortable. We’ve had her as our server before, and it’s always been the same vibe..low energy, no warmth, and little effort to make guests feel welcome. It honestly makes it hard to tip the 25% I normally do, because the experience just feels so flat.

To make matters worse, my son ordered the Tiger Steak, which on the menu is shown as a thick, juicy cut that looks at least 16 ounces. What arrived was maybe 8 ounces at best, cooked well-done instead of medium, and so dry and tough that he couldn’t even chew through it. He gave it an honest try, but after struggling with one piece for 10 minutes, we had to send it back.

That said, we still care about this restaurant. The food is usually great, and we hope Thai Social continues to thrive in the neighborhood. But I do hope they take this kind of feedback to heart, especially for dine-in guests and special occasions, because it really does make a difference.

Social Thai is authentic and uses fresh local ingredients. The chef brings culinary skill and artistic creativity to the plate. Service is perfect and the cafe is charming and clean. From start to finish just a superb experience.

We are frequent diners and find the food to delicious, flavourful and fresh! So glad to have them in the neighborhood!

Still talking about it. Had dinner here and was shocked at how good every single part was. Incredible peanut sauce, the Thai iced tea was otherworldly I don’t know what they put in it. Chicken Khao Soi was perfect. Rich curry.

This Thai restaurant changed owners not long ago and the place is much improved. I still found the dishes to be a bit dry and not spectacular.
