Bad value for money. The food is not particularly good and is cooked without any grace. Lackluster and inattentive service. And the expensive price. I wouldn't recommend it

I was a regular client of this restaurant until few days back: on January 1 I went there with my family to eat lunch. Terrible choice: service was horrible: we waited in front of the ice cream waitress 15 minutes without having anyone in front of us and none served us; at the end we had to leave since that was too much. I used to
know the manager and si feel sorry that i will not set my foot there anymore.

I had a sfogliatella Napoletana with ricotta and it was delicious! Crunchy outside and with a soft delicate filling inside. Recommended.
The only negative note is that it was a bit pricey at $7.55.

When arrived, I was seated outside with menus in hand. Next, I was served complimentary bread with marinara sauce and a bottle of mineral water. After that, they completely forgot about my existence, and I was not given any service. Therefore, I can’t even be bothered to comment on the food. Terrible!!!!

I would rather give them 0 stars for their service. Food was okay. But the waiter served us disrespectfully and rudely. I don't know why. The same man didn't treat other White Americans or Mexicans with the same manner that he treated us. This was an utterly racist attitude we had encountered. We will never go back to this restaurant for sure. The treatment was so shocking and we paid for the food but his facial expression, body language and behavior was not at all showing any respect/ hospitality towards us.

Parking: There are other restaurants beside which are way better than this one.

I tried two restaurants today, and the seafood risotto at this place was absolutely delicious! The seafood was incredibly juicy and fresh, and the pre-meal bread was also fantastic. The dipping sauce, a slightly spicy tomato blend, was unique—something I haven’t found anywhere else.

The only downside was that service was a bit slow; we waited for quite a while, but it was likely due to New Year’s Eve. However, the server brought us two extra servings of bread, which made up for the wait.

As for the other restaurant, not only did it require a reservation, but I also found a thin noodle in my wide noodle dish—super odd! Plus, the flavor didn’t come close to this place. They eventually refunded that dish, so I won’t name them here, even though they have a higher rating.

In comparison, Solunto Restaurant & Bakery may have been slow, but the quality of the food and the overall experience make me eager to return. Highly recommend!

Solunto Restaurant & Bakery has officially become *our* spot. My girlfriend and I came here the first time for our anniversary with our dog, Bella Tactical (yes, she has a last name), and it was such a great experience we had to come back. The first time, we ordered two appetizers with names I can’t pronounce (and won’t even try), but they were absolutely delicious. We paired them with a bottle of wine, because anniversary = fancy, right? The staff was so friendly and personable, we ended up being the last ones there—probably overstaying our welcome, but they didn’t seem to mind. The patio was perfect for Bella, and she loved being part of the celebration.

Fast forward to visit number two, and we brought along *another* dog. The patio was spacious enough for all of us, which is a big win because nobody wants to play dog Tetris at dinner. We ordered the same food and wine from our first visit (because why mess with success?), and while the food looked a little different this time, it still hit the spot. My girlfriend was thrilled, and let’s be honest, that’s all that matters.

Overall, we’d recommend Solunto for the delicious food, friendly and professional staff, and the fact that they treat your dogs like VIPs. Plus, it’s now a tradition for us, so I guess they’re stuck with us!

Update: Watch your recipt here!
I dined here on 10/28/24 when I was there for the AIChE conference. While doing my expense report, I just noticed they charged me $37.27 Vs. my actual total $33.27 (including tips). I got to know this bcz I took a photo of my singed receipt at the end of my dining. Someone just added extra $4 !??
Wow! Not good business. Please avoid this place.

No doubt great ambience, outside seatings near fireplace in the middle of little Italy.

However, their food quality is not that great. I ordered fettuccine Gamberi, which did not taste good. They added big chicken pieces, which were tasteless.

Their pizza was poor in quality too.

My family and I recently visited this restaurant after a day of exploring San Diego, eager to unwind and indulge in some authentic Italian cuisine. Unfortunately, our experience fell short of expectations.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the bartender, who seemed visibly displeased by our presence. Despite the restaurant being relatively quiet at around 3 PM, his demeanor was quite rude and impatient while taking our order. As he prepared our drinks, he repeatedly cast unfriendly glances towards my family, which made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. If it weren’t for my exhausted parents being with us, my wife, daughter, and I would’ve left immediately.

This poor excuse of a human did not check in on us during our meal, and we had to request assistance from another staff member when it was time to settle our bill. I find it strange that he certainly had no issue being friendly with the other customers. Having lived in Italy for 12 years, I understand how the culture views interracial marriages. It’s something that we accepted while living there. However, we are in America and I found his behavior particularly disheartening, as it poorly reflects on the hospitality one would expect from a food and services establishment.

While the food was passable, it did not meet the standards we had hoped for. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant for the lack of service and absolutely despicable behavior.
