I initially tasted Somisomi in Dallas and it is nice to be back here in San Diego. We did not get any feelings inside the waffle, but the strawberry and milk icecream was very yummy and the waffle was crispy.

I’m reviewing the location, not the ice cream itself. I’m giving it 3 stars because the ice cream is great. However, this location serves significantly smaller portions and offers fewer amount of adds-on compared to other locations in San Diego. The store was not clean, the glasses are usually dirty, and the staff’s attitude felt dismissive. Overall, the product is good, but the experience at this location needs improvement.

Somisomi is a great spot in a busy Mira Mesa strip mall, known for its smooth soft serve and warm, chewy taiyaki (fish-shaped waffle).
We spent $15 for five flavor-filled taiyaki (Nutella, custard, and sesame) and a cup of their beautiful purple and green ube/matcha soft serve. The taiyaki had a thin, crisp outer crunch and moist inner dough, while the tall swirl of soft serve was smooth and creamy.
The service is friendly and efficient, and they keep the line moving. Note that while there's plenty of free parking, the entire mall is very popular and often busy.
A highly recommended, semi-sweet treat for family and friends!

Love their matcha soft serve. Wish the dairy was hormone/ antibiotic free- we’d go more often! My son loves the adzuki or red bean taiyaki and I like the ube one.

Super niche and delicious Taiyaki and Aboong - multiple different flavors and fillings. Recommended for any tourist or locals. The whole vibe is awesome and the food is excellent.

SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE! I asked for a Nutella Taiyaki but then the instructions weren’t clear & it got more complex that i ended up ordering something i didn’t like at all. It was all bland & not crunchy so not worth it. Ever.
The person who served me was a + girl. I even pointed at the menu but she wasn’t listening. How unprofessional.
